I've been using SVP for 1080p @ 2 x interpollation for a few years now on an old i7 2600 4 core @ 3.4GHz and a GTX1050ti, it works fins and I'm very happy with the results for any 1080p movie viewing.

I want to dip into 4k now, and use the same settings in SVP and propose to purchase a Dell Precision 3240, and wonder if it'll be up to the job:

CPU: Intel Core i7-10700 (8 Core, 16M cache, base 2.9GHz, up to 4.8GHz)
GPU: nVidia Quadro P1000 4GB.

Full specs here, but with 16GB RAM and a 512Gb M.2 SSD. https://www.dell.com/en-uk/work/shop/wo … 0cffwer_vi

Thanks for any feedback.

I'd like to use 24p films with SVP, but currently cannot use without reclock as my display runs at 50hz or 60hz. I have a 2018 OLED TV. I use 50hz nearly all of the time, as reclocking to 60hz causes too much speedup.

Using reclock like this has been fine so far, but now I need to use a 64bit media player, MPC-HC is my preferred, and of course reclock is not available in 64bit. The reason I need to use 64bit is because even without SVP running, MPC-HC 32bit version runs really badly with HVEC 4k content, almost as if the film were playing at half speed. 64bit MPC seems to handle these files OK.

What are my options? Can I somehow improve the performance of 32bit MPC? I only ever use 1.5m interpolation mode in SVP, as I don't like too much smoothness - this works best for me.

I run an i7-2600 @ 3.4ghz, 16gb RAM, Nvidia 1050ti with 4GB RAM on Win 10 64 bit.

Thanks in advance.

I've been using SVP for a year or so now, and I'm very happy with it. My current setup (3rd gen i7 and GTX1050Ti) doesn't allow me to use SVP with videos of higher resolution than 1080p. I actually use SVP only at 48fps, and at either 2m or 1.5m interpolation mode. I prefer to retain the cinematic feel of the film and not have it overly smooth.

The new PC will purely be for watching movies using SVP (up to 4k), nothing else. I'll keep the GTX1050Ti (fanless so nice and quiet) and simply purchase a new motherboard and CPU. Will this CPU be overkill, underpowered or just right: https://ark.intel.com/products/126684/I … o-4_70-GHz

Thanks for any advice.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Having read what you said I did a bit more searching, specifically about the LG OLEDs and CRU and see there are some discussions on AVForums specifically about custom refresh rates. I will further my research there, and see if I can involve Toasty in the discussion. Depending on what I find I may update this thread.

Ok, is there any reason I can get it all to work on 50hz with 48fps and reclock doing its thing then? Slightly confused!!

Here is some additional info, including what I set in CRU. What I can say is that even with SVP disabled and the refresh rate set at 47.952hz, viewing 23.976 material is more juddery than when I have my refresh rate set to 23.976. I am assuming there should be no real difference when it's an exact multiple of 23.976. So I don't believe this is a SVP problem.

As a way to avoid needing to use reclock (for good reason I want to  I decided to create a custom refresh of 47.952hz (2 x 23.976) since all of my film library is at 23.976 fps.

I set my output to my new refresh rate of 47.952 and confirming in MPC-HC that the refresh rate is working correctly (CTRL-J) I set SVP to do "Movie x 2" and sit back and hope that things were just as smooth as when I ran at 50hz with the same settings and using reclock. It's nowhere near, it's really juddery and something clearly isn't working correctly. I used CRU (custom refresh utility) to carry out the custom refresh settings. What can I be doing wrong?

Ultimately I wanted to set a custom refresh rate of 71.928hz in order to use "Movie x3".

Cheers

Thanks, I ended up outputting to my display at 60hz which seems a lot more flexible with 23.976fps material once I'd had a play around with various settings. I wanted to avoid having to use reclock if necessary.

I've recently changed from using Reclock to not using Reclock, because it didn't seem to work all of the time with my TV, and caused stuttering occasionally which meant I'd have to stop and restart the movie and my TV to sort it.

Instead I now no longer use reclock, my display is set to 50HZ and I use movie x 2 for the framerate conversion with 23.976 source material. For this I don't seem to need reclock, panning shots are smooth. However, where I've seen a stutter every second in the past, now I see a blur every second. It's not that noticeable, you have to look really hard to see it, but I'd like to sort it if it's possible.

Any ideas?

Thanks for your help.

I restored my PC to a previous state and the problem has gone away. Something must have not been working properly. One more question:

When watching TV 25fps are displayed very nicely, but 50fps material goes to judder. How can I get SvP to not start when this type of material is played. I can't work it out.

Hi,

It seems that whenever the problem occurs, in the event log I get "seek was detected - turning off and back on"

I am not pausing or rewinding, this just happens when watching live TV.

Thanks

Hi,

I am trying to get SVP to do my live TV interpolation in MediaPortal 1.

Sometimes it's smooth and sometimes it's not. Sometimes a TV channel will display ok and then seem to freeze for a few seconds, and then maybe play smooth or play jerky until I pause and unpause.

I was wondering if maybe the buffer that SvP uses is not big enough, and maybe the frc.prefetch field might be where I look. There are 3 subsettings:

ff_add
ff_mul
mpv_add

What do they do? Or should I leave these settings alone and focus somewhere else?

Thanks

Thanks, that made the difference. However, now when I watch something @ 50hz that is 50fps it makes the image jerky. For material like this I'd like SvP to do nothing. Half of the broadcasts in the UK are 50fps, the others are 25fps.

How can I get SvP to only apply itself on material that needs interpolation? (ie 25 fps)

Can it be done?

Thanks.

I'm using Mediaportal 1.

I've set the Video and TV/Radio Post Processing BOTH to be using FFDShow Raw Video Filter (both added and ticked)

Under codecs and renderer, I've ensured that when editing the settings of the LAV filter that DXVA2 (Copy Back) is selected.

I have applied the 4gb patch. When watching an MKV from the video folder SVP starts and does it's thing. When I watch a live TV broadcast SVP does not start. Here is an event viewer entry for the TV when it doesn't work and a 1080p mkv when it does work. Any ideas?

The adaptive setting seems to perform the same level of interpolation as 1m, as far as I can tell. I run a 50hz screen.

I currently use 1.5m (less artifacts) because it produces less artifacts than 1.m. I prefer the smoothness of 1m, but have to use 1.5m as I prefer a small amount of judder instead of artifacts.

My question is: is there a way to make adaptive setting more adaptive. I would have thought this setting would dynamically adjust the interpolation mode based on the content it was processing.

I would like it if it could perform a level of 1m, but then drop to 1.5m if interpolation was going to produce artifacts.

Can this be done? Is it possible to use a custom script to achieve something like this?

Many thanks.

As a complete newbie myself, I'd simply say that your spec seems fine, but be careful with laptops as thermal throttling can become an issue.

Install the free one, and if you're happy and want to tweak a bit more invest in the paid version, it's not a lot of money and well worth it in the long run.

I found it to be quite a steep learning curve, it doesn't just work out of the box for me at least. Several settings need to be set. But once running it's a great piece of software.

I have done a quick search for this, but couldn't find anything (mainly because TV is too small a search term) but can you use SVP to carry out frame interpolation in live TV broadcasts, for example using MediaPortal? I know you can use SVP with MediaPortal, but specifically what about live TV within MediaPortal?

Thanks in advance.

Wow! You're right on the money. I've had to adjust a few more things, but it was definitely a Vsync related issue, and my card was not powerful enough. Now I do not get the issue with nearly everything, except for films that completely fill the screen, ie no black bars.

I will be making a donation.

Thanks. It's been driving me insane for about a week.

Hi, image of stats as requested.

If you think it's worth it I'll happily reinstall the OS and put an older build of SVP on, let me know and link me to the installer if so.

I've tried it without the deblur turned on and there is no problem. Something is confusing the TV only when deblur is turned on.

I am certain that if I place a standard monitor on the PC there will be no problem.

I have an LG OLEDE55v 55 inch OLED TV.

I haven't had the chance to get the screenshots yet, but as far as I remember I think this issue happened before the update was made available.

Also, I should point out that I'm using 50hz output on my graphics card because when using 60hz and using reclock everything is sped up, 1 minute of footage is shown in about 45 seconds, so I can't use it.

If I'm using 50hz, then surely the 50fps setting in SVP should be the one I use, but instead I can only get smoothness from 48fps - why is this, or could this explain the problem?

Thanks.
