yep, but colors will be incorrect
10-bit -> 8-bit conversion is not so simple in case of HDR

Chainik, is there a way to minimize the discrepancy in the difference to watch 10-bit hdr (maybe bt.2020 or not) videos through 8-bit screen? Like affecting brightness, contralst and saturation on mpc-hc? Or maybe dithering? Thank you

sorry for the double post.

CHainik, this video is hdr 10 and there is that new bt.2020 color... and I've managed to play it at 48 fps...
of course it was played here as 8-bit because of my old tv rsrs...
maybe svp plays hdr remuxes-videos, but not showing 10-bit, but 8-bit??

Thank you.

But... truly I do not know if this video is HDR...

well... performing more tests;...

with mpc-hc x64 svp x64 etc videos 4k 80gb (uhd bluray downloaded)

gtx 1060 6gb nvidia zotac amp! core 70+ mhz overclocked achieving 2000 mhz
amd 8-core 4ghz (kinda old (FX-8320E overclocked)

>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<conclusion with a heavy 4k video HEVC and like this
hardware acceleration (MPC-HC x64 svp x64 vapoursynth if not mistaken)
dxva2-copy-back (crashes)
dxva2-native (slow)
CUVID - 50% better performance than dxva2-native.

the image attached shows the best settings for this video downloaded in torrent...
using cuvid.. (the post before had shown the best svp settings for dxva2native)
screen res 4k dsr

when playing, uses 70% cpu and gpu uses kinda 20%-30%
...

my pc does not support 60fps with this kind of video format - encoding...
the bitrate is something like 100.000kbps

...

but my pc, with common 4k videos, with bitrate of 150.000kbps can run it with dxvacopyback

....

dont know why... but ok

I am trying to watch this 4k HEVC movie.

Hacksaw.Ridge.2016.2160p.BluRay.REMUX.HEVC.DTS-HD.MA.TrueHD.7.1.Atmos-FGT.mkv

windows 10 1709 ... svp 4 with all 64-bit options enabled.

4ghz octacore cpu
with nvidia gtx 1060 6gb (screen 4k dsr on a tv 32'' full hd); mpc-hc x64; lav filters;

but when I put any hardware acceleration (like dxva2, cuvid, etc.) the mpc-hc 64 bit crashes.

I tried to use mad-vr and evr-custom presenter... its the same

when I use softwarte acceleration sometimes the frames dropps... its not good for me.

I have read that some people say that mad-vr does not work with 4k... its true?

I am using the automatic options...optimized for 100% higher performance... and sometimes I've put screen x2 (48 fps)...

but the mpc-hc x64 crashes...

and when not crashes, it uses 50% cpu 50% gpu with all threads but I do not know the best settings for mpc-hc x64 with 4k with hdr with hevc etc...

any tips? Thanks

..................

I'm trying some tests right now and it seems that madvr sometimes makes the fps drop a bit...  and I'm using evr-custom with bicubic 0.75

I saw that mpc-hc only chrashes when I use dxva2-copy-back.... with CUVID or DXVA2-native the screen does not crash...
interesting is that I've seen something like that in some forum on google... dont know why

....

i've managed to solve this... I think... I've attached my svp4 settings for heavy 4k 48fps (80gb 4k uhd blu ray movie)...(sem título.jpg)

plus 23 threads (max)

----

any comments?

tingtong5 go inside bios

Be sure to disable any/all power saving features within your Bios (ie: APM,AMD Cool N' Quiet, HPC, C1E, ect)

Simply you have to lower svp settings (if only-cpu is being used........... are you using gpu acceleration)?

I have fx-8370 4.5ghz overcl.
nvidia gtx 960 as you.

I run svp with the highest settings for 72fps (screen), I have svp 4 pro, and I use variable options, that are even more demanding than highest (automatic). I can run on my 1080p tv (72hz oc.) every 1080p and 4k movie (decrease to screen (1080p)) without using even 60% cpu and 20% gpu.

Your hardware is indeed possible to watch any full hd movie!

Just.,.... do not know what can cause discrepancies since yours and my hardware is similar.

Show us the svp screen which shows cpu usage, svp index, mb, ..... which player? svp 32-bit? mpc-hc? enhanced video renderer? tell us more.

Seek works much faster too.

2160p is not that hard to play! (disabled (recize to screen off)) just require medium svp settings for normal play on a regularly fast computer and gpu.

Actually I see lots of bugs on 64-bit svp 4..... just 32-bit is much better for common use (w/o playing 5k+ video), even if there is not nvidia cuvid.....

I saw memory problem on seek every time, delay problem with normal k-lite pack from codec guide, mpc-hc x64 1.7.10 crashes sometimes w/ svp and heavy videos... and its just not nice, its better to wait for better stuff and stick with 32-bit for now....

Hello.

how about uniting svp tube with svp 4 pro? Like.... by simple entering youtube, just like playing a video does, the default setting is smooth video.

My son watches youtube a lot and there is not much time to copy paste like on svptube....

just an idea, joining good stuff together like one more menu.

Hello again!

Why there isn't a installation os mpc-hc x64 along with svp4? Is this simply because x64 actual chain is not recommended?

Waiting for this, uh, vapoursynth... next weeks? Hope you beta guys like it.

Thx

I'm noticing a terrible video delay with svp 4 ....

if I only install svp 4 with everything without my k-lite mega codec pack, I do not notice delay... but there is no mpc-hc x64 included on the pack...... can u put together? thx.

but if I install k-lite first and svp 4 after, there is a horrible 0.25-0.5s delay with the sound, as on the other topic someone was saying that........ I changed everything, but nothing happened....

i have not noticed issues with k-lite 11.96...... but yes with this 12.02, which has updated stuff.... maybe the updated drivers have clash with svp 4.......

----------
on the other hand
man y of you might have seen it, but here it comes.. when I use x64 svp mpc-hc too, if you seek lots of times w/o closing video, the amount of memory used skyrocket..... I was watching lion king 10gb video 20000 kbps, and it started with 1gb till more than 5gb (memory used by video player) weird.

-----------
kind of liking 32-bit software and stuff again.... even for 4k 32-bit is acceptable... even if there is no nvidia cuvid... for me cuvid and dxva have similar performance.

I guess I'll just raise my tv's hertz from 60 to 72 and use "to screen" svp option (72 fps)..... 72 fps is good enough considering without svp we'd be at 24 fps...

Yeap you a have a point Nintendo Maniac 64, but these are the settings that bring me the best balance on quality and artifacts, i forgot to mention that i set manually my threads, taking your advice , my goal (and that of everyone else , I hope) is to achieve the best quality viewing experience, sure that depending on the viewer perspective. but we all got here by a similar understanding of how that is. I don't got the ultimate hardware or the latest tv , nonetheless, most of the people that see a movie on my house, are amazed of the quality. and for that, any input to help me to enhance that experience are welcome.Said that, and going back to my original question, these values in the nvidia control panel, actually have an added value. how you think about that.

Drakko01, my point is this:

>Bombadilio has a titanX, one of the best graphics cards...
>There is no sense on having a titanX with low video settings (except for benchmarking)...
>The graphics card is responsible for movies (use like 20%), screen (use like 1%), and games (can use 100%)...
>>>>>>So:There is no sense on having a titanX with low video settings if the demand is low... maybe on a game like GTA V a titanX can use like high instead of ultra settings to ensure maximum performance.

Of course I believe there is difference on nvidia control panel settings, including 2D stuff, like movies with svp... but I do not know further...

Drakko01... if you may insist on learning, after acquiring knowledge about this subject, I would like to know what you'd learned, reading on this forum.

thx

Hey guys, anyone using SVP 4 PRO 120fps on a 120hz screen (or more)? Is it worthy spending some money on a 120hz device? Mine is 60hz. I really think, as I'm not very close to my tv, I'm gonna stick with full hd, and not 4k resolution (and games with 4k resolution require a super graphics card, and mine is good but not excelent!).

I've tried to see 120-90-75 fps on my 60hz tv I use as a monitor, and I've had not-so-good moments...

Is 120hz super-duper? Super exciting? More artifacts? More emotion?
Or its almost the same thing as 60hz? Is it worthy?

Thank you.

Hello... the referred black box indeex appeared for a few seconds with EVR, but I closed the video, opened it again, and the errors have not been repeating again when svp launches... dont ask me why....... anyway, who uses these weird configurations for someone to bother with? I vote for everyone to save money and get a led/lcd widescreen monitor or a decent tv when using svp, not anamorphic. I live in a crysis' Brazil and I could afford it.

Changing "SVP Shader" to "Complicated" increases artifacts significantly, that's why I use "Standard".

Is this new for SVP4?  My experience with SVP3 is the opposite, I use Complicated for everything because it minimizes artifacts, most importantly the haloing of moving elements.

Yes, you are correct with that statement. The thing I noticed when I made the switch, is that "complicated" shows the same artifacts in both SVP 3 & 4 I believe, which was actually good back when I was using SVP 3 (since it was the best option). But things have changed under 4, and "Standard" has become the best option for decreasing artifacts even further. Standard was very different back in SVP 3 days.

Complicated is indeed terrible, I've had bad times watching movies with it... it should be removed from the menu!

Tried here. No problem rapidly changing time slider, but svp 4 only enables a few seconds after each change.

Your CPU is not weak, I checked passmark benchmarks for your i5 2400... its +-5800 (its like a normal FX or a good phenom II for amd)... but, I had a phenom II that matches your i5 2400 in performance. Its not great, but its simply good enough for medium settings on svp 4 without gpu assistance (only cpu). With gpu assistance you can get high svp settings (gpu acceleration enabled). If you want the best settings for svp (like ultra), you should be considering changing your processor, like I did.

8gb... my video player crashes with svp when media player classic uses alone +-2.5 gb ram for 5k video or +-3.5 gb ram for 8k video, then I have to lower threads, but that impacts some of the performance.
