Topic: Why is SVP4 reporting 2 GHz on my 4 GHz cpu?

Hi,

In the performance monitor of SVP4 it says 2.0 GHz, while I do have an 8 core 4 GHz CPU (AMD FX8350)

Why is it reporting 2.0 GHz ?

Re: Why is SVP4 reporting 2 GHz on my 4 GHz cpu?

1. Your CPU in energy saving mode
2. It is mistake

You can check it by using CPU-Z utility.

Re: Why is SVP4 reporting 2 GHz on my 4 GHz cpu?

I did check, CPU was running at 4 GHz on all 8 cores.

Anyway, I guess my real question was: does this  (SVP thinking CPU is running on 2 GHz instead of 4 GHz) has any effect on SVP performance?

Re: Why is SVP4 reporting 2 GHz on my 4 GHz cpu?

tingtong5 go inside bios

Be sure to disable any/all power saving features within your Bios (ie: APM,AMD Cool N' Quiet, HPC, C1E, ect)

Re: Why is SVP4 reporting 2 GHz on my 4 GHz cpu?

I did so and indeed, then SVP reports correct CPU clock.

Re: Why is SVP4 reporting 2 GHz on my 4 GHz cpu?

tingtong5

CPU was running at 4 GHz on all 8 cores

SVP4 it says 2.0 GHz

Please attach screenshot of SVP performance and CPU-Z in same time.

the question is meaningless w/o specifying the OS wink

Windows 7 64bit

Re: Why is SVP4 reporting 2 GHz on my 4 GHz cpu?

In Win 8 and later you'll get real-time frequency monitoring but in Win 7 all we have is a constant value reported by OS.

Ok, that explains why correct frequency is shown when turning off all power save features and a kind of average when they are on ^_^
