Your hardware is definitely more than capable. Why it's stuttering more with Madvr doesn't even make sense (since that uses only your GPU and with Madvr's default settings it should be a breeze for your videocard).

I have a few questions to ask:

What Operating System are you using?
How long have you been using it for without a clean format?
What other "media players" have you tested?
Are you getting your LAV Filters and "codecs" via a codec pack or are you getting them from their official sites/locations?

For anyone still having crashes... Use SVP Maintenance tool to do a complete uninstall, go uninstall LAV Filter, Madvr, MPC-HC, ffdShow, everything. Clean the folders. Run CCleaner, do registry fixes to delete left over residue (do this a few times until it doesn't pick anything up anymore).

Then download SVP Pro from your activation email if you have SVP Pro, or download SVP 4 Free from the website, go through the installation process and tick EVERYTHING from there, use the default setups that come up and don't add or tick anything extra from ffdShow setups. Once everything is complete use MPC and test and see if you have any crashes. Tell LAV Filters to reset to default settings too in the process of installing. If you're still getting crashes, I really don't know what more to do. Haha we've went through all the steps I can think of already in this thread.

I had one type of crash that was happening, and that's gone now too after I done these steps.

Wow the performance difference is noticeable, and is it me or is there even LESS artifacts using the vapoursynth64 + mpv + SMPlayer option.

I wish I could use madvr to improve picture quality, that's the only option I am missing right now. If the vapoursynth64 method becomes compatible with MPC x64 and madvr (or MPDN) that would be brilliant.

So just to be clear I download MPV from the official site here:

https://mpv.srsfckn.biz/

Then download and install smplayer-16.1.0-x64.exe from the official site:

http://www.smplayer.eu/en/downloads

Then use SMPlayer.

Anything special I need to do regarding changing directory or something mentioned up top?

Also you should make this thread into a sticky Chainik, but up to you smile

Thank in return.

EDIT: I just ran the maintenance tool for SVP and clicked ADD features and realised everything is there to be ticked as extra downloads. I've done that. I just need to download SMPlayer now. Thanks.

EDIT #2: There is no mpv.exe in the download section of SVP download page on the website.... Where it says I need to download special version of MPV from here.

EDIT 3: Don't worry again haha, I went preferences in SMPlayer, general section, and changed the directory for mpv.exe from the one in SVP 4 folder in program files that got downloaded as one of the addons from edit 1.

Thanks for the heads up Chainik.

Quick question:

What are the advantages and disadvantages in your opinion?

Ok. Try pack 'plugins122&MTmode2.zip'. It is SVPFlow libraries ver.122 and MT mode back to 2.
To restore original SVP4 files use 'plugins130&MTmode1.zip'

Unpack to SPV4 folder with files replacing.

He doesn't need to extract the content in plugins122 into the plugins folder correct?

Because the script should point to that directory yes?

So all he has to do is extract plugins122&MTmode2.zip into the SVP 4 folder? (which will now have plugins122 and plugins folders - two of them).

I'm asking because I want to test SVPFlow libraries ver 122, I think they show even less artifacts than plugins130.

Okay. My last question will be. Is your CPU overclocked? and if yes, can you tone it down to its original speed and test?

Maybe your overclock is not stable?

Try to disable black bar detection.

Right click SVP Tray Icon, open video-frame menu, and tick OFF the first option "Detect and Cut Off Black Bars". Also disable "Outer Lighting" if you have it enabled. Report back if that helps with the crashes.

I assume the "always online" feature is designed to prevent pirates from getting a hold of the application and cracking and distributing it illegally. But I do have a problem with this "always online" method.

Maybe it could be be setup to check for validity once a month, and the application should lock itself out until internet access is allowed for it to check for validity again (so even if it's distributed illegally, it'll lock after 1 month anyway). Once it checks, it should reset the one month check period. That way, we only need to let the PC connect once a month to activate it SVP and done.

If my internet goes down for 2 weeks, all I want to do is probably watch movies/series at home if I have any free time. But I guess we could always use SVP 3 in that case until the internet comes back.

After one of the updates to SVP I had a few crashes too (I don't remember which update). It was something new that hadn't happened before, but I remember the error log looking similar to the one posted in the original post. I reset ALL of SVP's setting's to default, and then re-done my custom profiles and everything worked fine with no crashes whatsoever.

So try this... Right-Click SVP Tray Icon to bring up the MENU... Expand "Application Settings" menu... Then expand "Additional Options" menu... Then click on "Reset settings to defaults".

I assumed that maybe in one of the previous updates one or two values needed to be edited which the update missed, and it resulted in crashed. I fixed this issue quickly and haven't had any crashes since. Didn't see anyone complaining about it earlier so I assumed it was a unique issue to me.

Anyway, I hope that helps.

Changing "SVP Shader" to "Complicated" increases artifacts significantly, that's why I use "Standard".

Is this new for SVP4?  My experience with SVP3 is the opposite, I use Complicated for everything because it minimizes artifacts, most importantly the haloing of moving elements.

Yes, you are correct with that statement. The thing I noticed when I made the switch, is that "complicated" shows the same artifacts in both SVP 3 & 4 I believe, which was actually good back when I was using SVP 3 (since it was the best option). But things have changed under 4, and "Standard" has become the best option for decreasing artifacts even further. Standard was very different back in SVP 3 days.

if you're talking about "auto options selection" this's exactly how it should work - choose the highest options possible for the given hardware performance level

You've told him to choose the highest options possible for his given hardware;

What do you recommend for me?

I have the following setting:

http://i.imgur.com/ncU5gYK.png

I can decrease "Motion Vector Grid" all the way down to "6 px. Small 2" with no issues, just higher CPU usage (around 50% I think), but do you recommend it?

I use GPU Acceleration with my HD 7970 OC (R9 280X basically). And the CPU is the 4790K overclocked @ 4.7Ghz

Also use Madvr with 90%+ GPU usage with 720P and 70% with 1080P (so the settings are maxed out for my videocard).

I find with these settings there are minimal artifacts (I hate artifacts). Anything I can do to improve quality while maintaining the extremely LOW artifacts count?

Changing "SVP Shader" to "Complicated" increases artifacts significantly, that's why I use "Standard".

Hi Everyone;

SVP 64-Bit Support has just been released with the latest update, I would like to get some feedback on everyone's experiences. I'm looking forward to testing it myself now.

Regards, Blackfyre.

I have an Core i7 4790K @ 4.7Ghz (Hyper-Threading Enabled), any suggestions as to what the optimal number would be? I think by testing it was somewhere between 15 and 19 with SVP 3+ but with SVP 4 I've left it on Auto so far with no issues.

The option itself is already there, SVPFlow - SVPSmoothFps function, look for "gpuid".

But I don't know whether it's available via GUI menu or not.

Thanks Mashingan, I'll look into it. But yeah, it would be lovely if it was in the GUI Menu.

Hi Devs,

I have mentioned this before, but now I would actually love it as an option if you guys can implement it in a future update perhaps.

An IF statement to determine which GPU acceleration device I want to use under each profile.

For example for me, I want to use my primary GPU (HD7970) for 1080p videos, and my secondary iGPU (HD4600) for anything 720p or below.

Thank you in advance for adding this feature if it's possible.

Regards, Blackfyre.

Now that a paid version is out, I have a lot of bones with it. For one, getting the dang thing to work at all is such a major headache no matter what computer I install it on, it requires the use of 3rd party plugins that are ancient to even run. It seems more like some hobby project than anything else, even in version 4. Why would I pay for a major headache of configuration issues that I have literally poured countless hours into trying to solve?

1. As suggested above, why didn't you test the free version prior to purchasing the full-version?

2. How is getting the thing to work on multiple computers a pain? It's almost as easy as a "plug & play" device, all you have to do is follow the installation instructions, then make sure all background apps are closed when you run SVP for the first time.

3. What's wrong with "ancient" 3rd party plug-ins? Programs like ffdShow were in development for over 10 years! They're not perfect, but they are the best we have!

4. As for your last question. You could have downloaded SVP 3, tested and ran all different type of configurations (and if they worked fine there, they'll definitely work fine here, because SVP 4 uses less resources to produce the same results).

Just for the record, what hardware are you using?

What are the specs on you CPU, GPU, RAM?

I agree, for my friends & family I had to setup SVP 3 for them independently for each PC with different settings.

With the performance improvements, better management, and usage. Added to that the slider for configuration, it just made it very easy for everyone.

I didn't know that either, but I find that I haven't been having the issue anymore with the Avisynth that is provided with recent versions of SVP4...

Oh well I still have the issue from time to time. And I have 16GB RAM, wouldn't mind SVP using 8GB out of it really as long as it makes everything more stable.

So with SVP 4, how should I go about increasing AVS-Script Max Memory? Didn't know that fixes the seek issue in MPC where it crashes if i'm forwarding or rewinding very quickly with the keyboard arrows.

I'm pretty sure it's discontinued and the latest version from 2014 is the most stable one that's bundled with SVP anyway.

OK. I'll just keep the current implementation then. What are the default install paths for the various versions?

I have the PRO and it installs in the following directory:

C:\Program Files (x86)\SVP 4

I'm not sure if that's the same as the free version, because I haven't used the free version.

Hi Everyone;

As I suspected, I believe it was a driver issue. I used DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller), to remove the recently installed Intel drivers (win64_154012), which are still in beta but are available on the Intel website, and I reverted back to the older stable drivers (win64_154010.4300). The image below shows me using the HD4600 with no hiccups issue for over 30 minutes on a new episode (hopefully it's not because the episode is running at 1076p and upscaling to 1080p, I'll edit this post and update if that's the case later). If anyone else experiences this strange issue, roll back to the stable drivers.

Does anyone know if this issue happens with the Intel HD4600 because of a driver issue or something?

in fact you're the first one who reported about such an issue with HD4000

I'm 99% sure it only happens with 1080p WEB-DL videos, maybe that's why it hasn't been noticed tongue after all I've been using the HD4600 for GPU Acceleration since Windows 10 came out until now and only noticed this issue recently. I've also just updated to the latest HD4600 drivers a week ago, I might roll back the driver and see if the issue is still there. Starting to think it could be a driver issue, I'll investigate it further tonight.
