Future proofing my friend lol lol lol I got the TV on a crazy special for less than half-price directly from Sony. Giving my Sony 43" W800C to my brother when the new one arrives.

Also I have a few videos I got that I wanted to test from here:

Thanks for the reply. How about:

4K @ 4:4:4 @ 60Hz @ 8-Bit

will that get converted to:

4K @ 4:2:0 @ 60Hz @ 8-Bit too?

Is SVP limited to only processing at 4:2:0?

Hi Everyone & Devs,

I remember around a year ago there was discussing regarding 4:4:4 & 4:2:0 and 8-Bit vs 10-Bit (with regards to SVP).

I've purchased the Sony X800D 43" TV and I will be using it connected to my MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X.

I use MPC + Madvr to watch movies and TV shows.

If I want to run a HDR movie, I'd have to set nVidia Control Panel to 4K @ 60Hz @ 4:2:0 @ 10-Bit. Does SVP support 10-Bit content? I am waiting on the TV to arrive, so I have not tested anything yet.

I think it was an ffdShow limitation from my memory on the old discussions, so I am not sure if using a different method/player that doesn't require ffdShow to work with SVP would fix the problem.

So I finally gave up on MPC+madVR not dropping at least 1 frame per second now that I know it's not a hw limitation. I'm using the same settings as I do in MPC+madVR but when I load ffdshow raw video filter I get the error message "failed to connect filter to graph." Your guide is a little outdated and I'm using the x64 version of everything so is the problem that MPDN doesn't agree with ffdshow x64 or Avisynth+ or just SVP4? I have Avisynth 2.6 and I've tried disabling Avisynth in ffdshow raw video filter and running with SVP4 not on with the same error still.

This is a very old thread. MPC & Madvr work perfectly with SVP 4 for me. Sorry I cannot help. Maybe visit the official MPDN thread and ask around, someone might be able to help you set things up:

What Madvr setting are you using? I have a GTX 1070 so I might have a bit more headroom, but it wouldn't be by much. You need to tone down your Madvr setting the higher you go in terms of FPS. Basically turn off ALL image doubling in Madvr settings, and use Jinc for Chroma Upscaling and Image upscaling. For Chroma Upscaling you can also activate SuperRes Filter and I use a strength of 3 for that. Also go to the tab which says "trade quality for performance" and TICK OFF everything. Nothing should be ticked in that tab. Also make sure smooth motion in Madvr is enabled and set to ALWAYS.

EDIT: Otherwise just use 3X instead of 4X for frame rate. If GPU usage is too high. I always try to keep mine below 80% usage so that the GPU remains quiet. (edited usage percentage).

Keep SVP Shader on Standard, since Complicated introduces a lot of artifacts. But change Frame Interpolation Mode to Uniform (Max Fluidity) instead of Adaptive. Definitely increases smoothness significantly without introducing much, if any artifacts at all; especially since you have artifact masking set to strong like myself.

EDIT: Also I use MPC instead of PotPlayer. And in Madvr settings go to Smooth Motion and enable it and set it to ALWAYS. Then Go back to SVP and instead of setting it to "Fixed Framerate 60 FPS", change that to "Movie Frame Rate x 4", which would make 24FPS movies run at 96FPS.

You have the CPU power to do it, and so do I using my 4790K @ 4.7Ghz. I find it running much smoother than setting it to a fixed framerate of 60. Even though at the end of the day, media player classic is throwing out all the extra frames and using only 60 of them, I find that the 60 used by MPC to have less artifacts then setting SVP to a fixed 60 frame rates.

I recently posted this to someone else, try these settings and let me know what you think.

I use MPC + Madvr

I have the PRO version of SVP 4 and similar hardware to yours. 4790K @ 4.7Ghz & an MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X

I'm using a 1080p 43" Sony W800C TV as a monitor & I use it for both entertainment & gaming.

Here's my settings for perfect movie/series/anime viewing (literally for everything I use these settings), with these settings ARTIFACTS are minimal (barely noticeable in comparison to default settings). My Madvr settings are custom too, if you're interested I could share them as well. But you need SVP 4 Pro for you to be able to use these settings. The MSI Afterburner settings are there not because you should copy them, you shouldn't, every videocard overclocks differently, but it's just to confirm that I indeed do have a GTX 1070.

I don't know why I thought I read 6700K @ 4.7GHz when I was skimming down the post. My bad OP.

Yes I am aware that SVP is predominantly CPU intensive. I went from an i5 3570K @ 4.2GHz to an i7 4790K @ 4.7Ghz (massive difference, especially back in the SVP 3.x.x days when it was much more CPU intensive & demanding).

Artifact masking with the settings I am using, in terms of smoothness, there is little difference between 'disabled' & 'strong'. However, setting it to 'strongest' definitely ruins the smoothness of the video. But for the little (barely noticeable) difference between disabled & strong. It is worth it because it masks the artifacts very well. And in the case of the OP, he wants to mask his artifacts. Because like me, he finds them very annoying and intolerable when disabled.

So yeah, I recommend he buys the PRO version just so he can use the artifacts masking option at least.

PS: These settings barely use 30% of my CPU, so for the OP maybe he can use them too. Instead of 3x source, lock it to 60 FPS, and instead of 9 Processing Threads, set it 5. He should be fine with a 6600K (especially if it's cooled & overclocked properly).

Changed Processing Threads to 7 instead of AUTO and now there's no more crashes. I tried 21, then 19, then 15 (it got better then crashed on 3rd rewind or forward), then I tried 7 and now no more crashing.

PS: Now 1080p crashes when fast forwarding and rewinding. That needs more Processing Threads than 7 to eliminate the MPC crashing issue.

Core i7 4790K @ 4.7Ghz
nVidia GTX 1070
2400 Mhz 16GB RAM @11c

I have no issues whatsoever watching anything using SVP + MPC 64 + Madvr with 720p & 1080p content using my own SVP settings. But 4K content crashes the media player when clicking forward or back in the time-line, for example if I want to skip an intro of a show I am watching and fast forward 1 minute (immediate crash). Could be a driver issue, but I am not sure. I haven't used SVP or watched anything in a while since I upgraded to my new GTX 1070, and I formatted a few weeks ago and I'm using a clean version of the latest Windows 10 Anniversary Update.

1920x800 just means the video actually looks like this (notice the black bars):

1920x1080 looks more like this:

http://www.hardcoregamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/BFHardlineComp-Image015-PC.jpg

I'm using these images as an example, they're not from the same movie or anything. Most movies are usually 1920x800 (even though they're titled 1080p), IMAX movies are usually 1920x1080. Many TV Shows are also 1920x1080.

The driver is lacking OpenGL support for your GPU most likely.

What operating system are you running? And have you tried with older drivers?

Do you play games or just watch movies/series?

If I was you I'd buy a TV and connect it to the computer. I gave up on on monitors as a 43" TV gives a much greater viewing experience.

I doubt the different between 60FPS and 120FPS is significant, but it should be noticeable. The difference between 30FPS in gaming and 60FPS is massive, going from 60 to 120 is a good change too, but nowhere near the massive jump from 24 FPS to 60FPS.

So even if you want to go monitor, and don't like the TV option. I recommend a really high quality 60Hz monitor with an IPS Panel.

Maybe the 2K resolution (2560x1440) Dell monitors?

I browsed through the forum here, i saw a comment saying that i5 is sufficient for using highest profile settings in SVP.

skylake i5 6600 vs i7 6700?
interested in getting the most out of svp for best quality soap effects, without purchasing external GPU card.

I had an i5 3570K Overclocked at 4.2Ghz and when I changed to an i7 4790K Overclocked at 4.7Ghz more than a year ago, I noticed a massive difference. And it gave me more options to use much better settings to achieve better results too.

That was back in the SVP 3.x.x Days (which was a lot more power hungry). SVP 4 is faster though, so I am sure it's less effective now, but I'd say the upgrade was worth it in my opinion.

I have a videocard, a Gigabyte 7970 Ghz (280x), and I don't use it for GPU acceleration, I use it for Madvr. With SVP I use my HD4600 which comes with my 4790K for GPU Acceleration. Generally speaking, and many people seem confused about this, SVP does not use the GPU for motion interpolation. It only ever uses it with GPU Acceleration enabled. Having a strong GPU is not as important for SVP as having a strong CPU.

The only reason I have a GPU is to allow me to play games, and to use Madvr with Media Player Classic for much improved picture quality. Otherwise I wouldn't even need it.

Thank you for adding "Rendering Device" under Miscellaneous Options. I was very happy to see it, hopefully in the future versions you can add Processing Threads (which is the most important one) and "Detect and Cut Off Black Bars" Enabler or Disabler.

The Detect & Cut off Black Bars options will also be useful, for example I can say IF 1920x1080 = Disable Black bar detection (that way when those TV show switches between 16:9 and 4:3 for footage like in Narcos, it doesn't keep disabling and enabling SVP). And for 1920x800 videos I can have it enabled all the time, so it decreases artifacts at the edges.

Again, thank you and I really appreciate it.

It's much better just to fix those bugs.

The only way to fix the AUTO algorithm is probably to re-write the whole thing because it needs to fluctuate and change processing threads on the fly to accommodate every video differently, I think that way it would stop all the crashes and hanging issues. The AUTO would need to start automatically changing as the media player needs more processing threads and automatically decreasing when it doesn't. I don't know much about coding, but that sounds very hard to implement for ALL sorts of different CPU's and different CPU Architectures.

Also having those options there won't hurt, it will just give us extra options to play with for making IF statements. The point of the PRO version is that we have these extra options that allow us to modify and change things for different profiles.

It's completely up to you guys, I just hope (please) you consider these extra options for the future.

Adding GPU Acceleration device, processing threads (custom number), detect black bars, and outer lighting to that AREA in the picture so they can be controlled by different profiles (IF statements) set by the user.

What screamed that it doesn't have x64 components? What program? Are you sure you're using MPC 32Bit Edition and not the x64Bit?

Just a few questions:

Is this a new install or did this error just start happening (aka was SVP working before)?
Are you installing ALL of SVP's components through the installer? Or do you download everything separately?

Anyway:

You can try Right Clicking the SVP Tray Icon go to Application Settings Menu, then Additional Options Menu, then select "Reset Settings To Default", and reset everything (including profiles).

Rather than further complicate the UI wouldn't it be preferable for the crashing/hanging issues to be fixed instead?

How does adding those "Extra Options" at the end complicate the UI? (example is at the end of the picture above) By default they would all be on GLOBAL Setting like I explained, no one even needs to touch them, they're just Extra Options for those who want to use them in an IF statement.

Crashing issue was fixed (in 99% of cases anyway), hanging issue still exists (hopefully will be fixed anyway). But that doesn't mean anything, those options are still great to have there for IF statements. Even if all issues are fixed.

I can set up the profiles so that if I Press Numpad 1 it chooses the 4K Profile which would have GPU Acceleration Enabled on my AMD Card + Processing Threads set to 13 + Detecting Black Bars OFF + Lights OFF.

I can Press Numpad 2 and it chooses my 1080p Profile which uses GPU Acceleration on my Intel card and 19 Processing Threads + black bars detection ON + Lights OFF

I can use profile, 3, 4, or 5 and have custom settings for anything I want.

It's not about complicating the UI, it's the PRO version, and the MORE options/control we have in the PRO the better.

Hi Developers;

I would like to request extra options, such as the ones I've edited into the picture below; to control IF statements at the bottom. LOOK at Extra Options at the END of the list (as an example).

For example I want it set up so that IF I am watching 4K content, processing threads are set to 13 and GPU Acceleration is set on my Intel HD 4600. I also want Black Bar Detection disabled.

And IF I am watching 1080p content, I want 19 processing threads, and GPU Acceleration on my AMD R9 280X, with black bar detection enabled.

Essentially what I am asking, is that all the options we can do by right clicking SVP Tray Icon, should be added in Extra Options section (check picture below) so we can use them in IF statements.

By default all of them will be set to "USE GLOBAL SETTING", and global setting is whatever we set when we right click SVP, but should we want to make IF statements we can change these Extra Options to what we want.

The reason I want to do this, is because every file type (720p, 1080p, 4K) requires me to use different settings so that NO hanging or NO crashing happens.

For example 4K Videos stop crashing when I set processing threads to 13, but at 19 they crash. And at 19 processing threads it stops hanging issue with 1080p videos. So would be great if we can set perimeters.

http://i.imgur.com/Z1FEoRB.png

EDIT:

FOR Processing Threads, can you please ADD Custom number option (text box that can allow me to enter 10, 20, 30, or 40 if I want).

It's important to note that, if you're OCD about artifacts, that you should really make sure that your screen refresh rate is an exact multiple of the source video frame rate.

First of all I've wanted to say this for a while but artifacts are always there, in fact decreasing the FPS from 60 to 48 would for example decrease artifacts from 60 to 57 (just an example, not exact numbers), but it decreases smoothness from 60 to 48 (which is massive). So the trade off is definitely not worth it. Stick to running the highest refresh rate you possibly can, in your case on the TV, it's 60Hz or 59.940Hz to be exact.

Anyway, if you use Madvr + MPC, use Madvr or MPC to change refreshrate, because those refreshrates below 60 are all built into the Sony TV.

PS - My hardware:

I highly recommend you don't overclock or change the refresh rate of your Sony TV, their panels are not designed with overclocking in mind.

When you're watching videos with SVP, set the target to "screen" which is 59.940. You've already done that (which is good).

With the settings I use above by the way I rarely ever notice artifacts, also you're using artifact masking "strongest" which just ruins the smoothness of the video. Change it to "Strong", it helps a lot.

I have the 43" Sony W800C being used as a TV connected to the PC for watching movies/series. And I owned the Sony 32" W800C before that (which actually had a better panel/screen, but I wanted a bigger screen). And I've done a lot of testing on both.

Under Advanced Settings;

Motion Settings --> Turn OFF (aka Disable) Motionflow and Film Mode. These are the settings you asked about, turn them both OFF if you're using SVP 4 Pro. Because they do a worse job at motion interpolation in comparison to SVP (unless you own the really expensive high-end TV's), and when they're combined together, they just add extra artifacts if you're already using SVP.

Clarity Settings --> Make sure Sharpness is set to 50, Reality Creation set to AUTO, Random Noise Reduction = OFF & Digital Noise Reduction = OFF

Colour Settings --> You need to tell me which Sony Bravia TV you have, aka the model number, so I might find the best settings to calibrate your TV. Unless you've already used a calibration device.

Brightness Settings --> Brightness = MAX, Contrast = Max, Gamma = 0, Black Level = 50, and BLACK ADJUST = OFF (MUST do this), and Adv. Contrast Enhancer = OFF (Must do this too).

For SVP Settings use the following: (Let me know what you think after watching a few movies/series with these settings). These settings should decrease artifacts to the minimum, and maintain the smooth feeling of motion interpolation.
