Topic: 4K video problem

Hello, first of all, SVP is great.
But I also have stuttering problems during 4K playback.
The problem is that if I add this 4K resolution and tell SVP:
Frames interpolation mode:off
Decrease frame size: To screen size
.... SVP does something with the video.

In fact I can´t disable SVP complete, so I always must kill SVP to see the 4K video smoothly and then restart SVP to improve FullHD 1080 videos.

This is in my opinion not the best solution, is there a workaround out there?

Re: 4K video problem

Settings -> Disable SVP

set it to "decrease frame size: disabled"!

Re: 4K video problem

Set "Disable SVP" does work.  neutral
Set Decrease frame size: disabled doesn´t work, it´s even more worse.  yikes

Re: 4K video problem

Hm. Looks as if SVP isnt "switched off" by Frame INterpolation mode: off.
Strange, I would have also thought it switches it off.

What about lowering all settings to minimum hardware consuming aswell? SVP Shader "Faster" , decrease gridstep OFF etc?

nope, it's really off
the only difference is the video is still passed through "null" Avisynth script, may be it has some impact in case of 4k  hmm

also "deinterlace" option could be accidentally turned on
it actually turns on deinterlacing in ffdshow

Re: 4K video problem

Hello,

So is 4K supported by SVP using MPC player?
I have Ryzen 7 with 16 threads and RX 480 GPU so there should be enough power to handle it.
However there is visible video shuttering with big delay after the audio (while both CPU an GPU stays below 40%).

FullHD is working fine, only 4K (h265) has these problems.
I tried lowering quality but it doesn't help.
Playing video without SVP works fine, but I can't watch 24fps videos anymore smile

works fine in 64-bit MPC-HC

Re: 4K video problem

I'm using 64 bit MPC, is there anything else I can do?
I will try to reinstall everything, maybe it will help.

Re: 4K video problem

Check the video renderer settings.
If it's set to anything other than EVR-CP or madVR - set EVR-CP.
If it's already on EVR-CP - try madVR instead.

Re: 4K video problem

Thank you for the info - I've managed to make it work if I use EVR CP and I use the "Decrease to screen" option (alter video frame size) which will downscale it to 1440p.

I was using madVR but even with downscale is won't work... There is some bottleneck somewhere. I will try to tweak the madVR.

Re: 4K video problem

madVR can be very GPU-demanding especially in case of 4K @60fps

Re: 4K video problem

Yes there is probably bottleneck due to copying frames between GPU and system RAM (which is why the CPU and GPU usage is still low).

However I managed to make it work in madVR (with "Decrease to screen" option in SVP) by enabling "delay playback start until render queue is full" and "delay playback start after seeking, too" in the "rendering" / "general settings".

Now I can see no dropped frames and the upload and render queue are both full (in the madVR debug OSD).

Thank you for your assistance smile
