Topic: Windows 10 GPU-acceleration freeze

Any1 else is having problems enabling GPU-acceleration on windows 10(10074) with latest NVIDIA drivers(352.63) ?

Everything freeze unless I disable GPU-acceleration.

Re: Windows 10 GPU-acceleration freeze

Works just fine on my rig (i.e. GPU-acceleration on windows 10(10074) with latest NVIDIA drivers(352.63))

Use at your OWN risk. But this program is the best method for uninstalling drivers (it has caused issues for people before though using Windows 10, so you might want to go there and ask if Windows 10 is now supported or if it's safe), there might be some extra-files or residue left over from older drivers you've installed that are interfering with your latest installation. Use DDU to un-install older drivers and then update to the latest again. See if that helps, good luck.

Re: Windows 10 GPU-acceleration freeze

I did try DDU and also a regular clean install of the latest drivers without success.

But I found if I disable CUVID from the LAV decoder (just set it to NONE) everything works fine.
Also I cant use madvr NNEDI3 settings, same problem.

I guess it is a bug in the CUVID implementation of the directx12 drivers. (I have a gtx970 can any1 else confirm the same problem ?)

Re: Windows 10 GPU-acceleration freeze

Yup, I have a gtx970 and the same bug (unable to run CUVID or NNEDI3) with the latest Windows 10 build and Nvidia driver. Setting LAV to DVAX2 (copy-back) shaves a few percentage points off CPU usage though.

Re: Windows 10 GPU-acceleration freeze

Hi all, I experienced this issue (MPC-HC freezes soon after starting playback if GPU acceleration is active).
It seems that nVidia has removed CUDA support from the Win10 driver.

Simple solution: Download and install the CUDA developer package from https://developer.nvidia.com/cuda-downloads.

You can then use full GPU acceleration.
I unchecked the Samples and the Visual Studio Integration during installation to save space.
Hope this helps someone else experiencing the same.
