This is a strange problem, and one that has arisen since last week.

Before this problem I had the perfect settings for me. I use an OLED TV, and a setting on it called "deblur". When using this setting coupled with 1.5m in SVP it was perfect.

For some reason (me probably messing around with something) now when I use these settings I can watch about 2 or 3 minutes of a movie and [regular and constant] stutter comes in. Only way to resolve it is to switch off the TV and switch back on, then everything is OK for another few minutes.

I have taken my PC to the shop and plugged into another identical TV - the same problem occurs.

I have swapped out the graphics card, a GT710. Still no change. Even installed a new OS, with no luck. For info I have an i7 2600.

It seems to happen at exactly the same time on each movie, almost like a frame gets dropped that kicks the TV into meltdown.

Everything was fine last week, so I know can work. The TV doesn't demonstrate this behaviour with any other source. The TV does not demonstrate this problem when SVP is not enabled.

How can I troubleshoot this problem? And please remind me how to show on screen stats within MPC-HC.

Many thanks.

Yes, I was initially using SVP on its own, and was always getting slightly more artefacts than when using the combination of the two.

My theory is that in 2m mode you get no artefacts, but with noticeable judder. This feeds a clean and increased frame rate into the TV. The TV is now able to work with more frames and therefore creates less artefacts than it did with 24 frames per second. Sharing the load so to speak. I'm surprised how well it works.

Artifacts are normal, that's what happens when you use motion interpolation. However, you can decrease them to a point where they become barely noticeable (except in certain situations). If that's what you're trying to achieve, your settings are wrong. Here are my settings below. The first picture is for 1080p content or lower resolutions. The second picture is for 4K content.

4K Content:

EDIT:

Also make sure your LAV Settings have not changed. And make sure you're using GPU Acceleration with your GPU or iGPU, and I have Outer Lighting set to Disabled, and Video Frame (Detect & Cut Off Black Bars set to Disabled, Keep Aspect Ratio selected, Keep Normal Size selected).

Thanks so much. Your settings have really helped. I've come to a completely acceptable solution.

My TV creates artefacts when interpolation is switched on, but they disappear with a lower setting.
SVP creates artefacts when set to fluid, but disappear when set to a lower setting, like 1.5m or 2m

So the PC is set to 2m (with the other settings as you showed in your picture) and the TV interpolation (dejudder in my case on an OLED55E6V) is set to 6. This produces an almost artefact free solution, one that I am really happy with.

Thanks again for your help.

Tearing my hair out now. I have just carried out a full rebuild on my PC, fully patched with all Win Updates applied.

Setup SVP and set all of the options to those listed above, which were working perfectly last night, just wanted a fresh install of windows on there before I continued working on SVP. I now get smooth motion but with huge halo artefacts around objects. The CPU is only being used around 30% so something is not working. Before the rebuild my PC displayed this content almost perfectly.

Why do I get completely different results with exactly the same settings - have I missed something?

Hi,

I don't know exactly what the impact of all of the settings do, and I've randomly messed with the settings to improve things quite a bit. I still get a halo effect, but only very slightly now, with moving objects.

Are there any settings I should focus on? On 1080p material I'm using about 70% CPU, so have a little bit to play with. I'm using an i7 2600.

FIM:                     Uniform (Max Fluidity)
SVP Shader           23 Complicated
Artifacts Masking   Strong

MVP                      Half Pixel
MVG                     7 px Small 1
DGS                      By two with global refinement
Search Rad            Large
Wide Search          Strongest
Width on top         Small

Also I only have 4GB RAM, but the PC is not being used for any other purpose and is a fresh install of Win 7. Would 8gb offer any advantage over 4gb? I see that when SVP is working I'm using about 60% of my RAM.

Any settings I can adjust to tweak just slightly reduce the final artefacts around moving objects?

Because I couldn't get 60hz playback to run at the correct speed I am now using 50hz because it seems to work better for me.

Thanks

What about 378.96?

Is there currently an issue with anything 378.49 onwards or just the two versions listed in this post?

Hi, just to update this was resolved by this ticking the D3D setting, although this reduces functionality within MPC-HC it's not ideal but for now I can get it to work.

Next I have a reclock related question, and I know reclock is developed by Slysoft but thought someone here would almost certainly know the answer:

Now when I play a 23.976fps movie thats reclocked to 30fps so it'll play smoothly @ 60fps via SVP and my TV at 60hz the sound is adapted but the movie plays fast. 1 minute of footage is played in 48 seconds, and PAL speed down is greyed out.  I read somewhere else in this forum, although can't find the post now, that the best way to achieve an acceptable slowdown is to speed up the footage to something like 62 fps. Can someone tell me what I should be doing here and where to find the settings?

I'm sure most people are playing 23.976 @ 60hz, so assume this is often asked and resolved.

Thanks for your help.

Just seen a similar thread from a few days ago regarding D3D. Will enable and update the thread this evening if it works.

I'm using SVP 4 Pro.

Can someone post their reclock/svp settings for playing a 23.976fps movie to a 60hz refresh rate screen please?

I can get smooth playback to a 50hz screen, but want a little more fluidity. At 60hz I get a judder every 1 second, other than that it's very smooth, but obviously unacceptable at its current setting. Reclock icon goes green to indicate a correct conversion, but something is amiss somewhere.

Thanks in advance.
