Yeah tried that and didn't work but I did find a workaround, I set the framerate in my SVP profile from To screen to Fixed 60fps and all is good. Not the most elegant solution but it works smile

Anyway cheers for the advice.

I'm currently using three screens, two monitors running at 144hz and my TV which is 60hz, the problem is lately SVP has been defaulting to 144hz profile on my TV, the only way to fix it is to close SVP and reload, it's as though it doesn't recognize my TV is running at 60hz and sets the framerate to 144hz or fps which is resulting in some really choppy playback on my tv.

Oh that's too bad, I thought it was all sorted yesterday but after watching a few things I can see it's not upto the standard HDR quality, back to the waiting game I guess as MPV is still a no go for me as well, CPU usage is still through the roof. sad

Yeah the only issue I had was I had to enable HDR in the windows 10 display settings as madvr doesn't send the metadata with ffdshow enabled which is kind of annoying but at least it works, then I had to select Try to recover hdr colors options in SVP.

Make sure you have GPU acceleration enabled in SVP as well, as the restore hdr colors option wouldn't work for me unless it was on and make sure it's set to DXVA2 copyback in Lav filters

I'm running a 4790k at 4.7ghz with a Geforce 1070 and these settings work great for my system but you'll probably need to experiment depending on your specs.

Anyway hope this helps.

Just got the latest update and happy to report the HDR Colour restore option is working well for me, finally I can ditch my tv's interpolation for SVP smoothness, cheers for the fix, made my day smile

I guess I'll just stick with my TV's built in interpolation and wait for the fixes. I also watch a lot of HDR stuff on Netflix, recently rewatched Daredevil, it looked very good for streaming but I still prefer Ultra HD Blu-ray, I watched The Revenant recently, whole film was shot in 8k, Absolutely stunning in HDR! anyway cheers for the settings.

DUDE! You are a legend!

This is the first time I can run 4K Content with no dropped frames using SVP + MPV with my 4790K @ 4.7Ghz

Could never even come close before! Unbelievable, GPU usage increases with this, CPU usage decreases and I can finally run 4K @ 60FPS smoothly using MPV Player.

EDIT: The only issue that remains now is 4K HDR content still drops frames with my custom settings. But it's actually promising because using the automatic profile on High Performance actually works with 4K HDR on a 4790K & GTX 1070 when using MPV.

Any chance you can share your settings? I've literally got the same CPU and Graphics card as you, I am using Windows 10 64 and I've been trying to get SVP working with MPV ever since reading your post, desperately want to get HDR content running at 60fps, tonight I was at the point of re encoding my entire UHD Video library into 60 fps but decided against it, it's a bit overkill and I'd rather get SVP to work. Anyway if you can help I'd appreciate it.

Here's the settings I'm using, I've set SVP to automatic mode and it is working in a window but as soon as I go fullscreen I lose HDR, windows reverts to standard 4k mode not sure why that's happening but in a window HDR is workjing with SVP and seems fairly smooth , this is with the mpv64 version installed through the SVP installer, I've also installed the Nvidia Cuda Toolkit as explained in the previous post.

input-ipc-server=mpvpipe

gpu-api=opengl
hwdec=nvdec
vo=gpu
profile=gpu-hq

Guess I'll give MPV another shot, thanks for the pointers.

This is a request to implement HDR into SVP currently I've tried everything from using VLC to Potplayer to MPV but nothing works right with SVP, the closest i've got is bluesky frame rate converter but to be honest i'm not even sure it's working and it's no where near SVP  in performance, I even paid for powerdvd but even powerdvd can't do framerate interpolation in 4k HDR, seriously if SVP devs want to take this software to the next level HDR is essential.

Figured out why it was freezing, turns out it was due to MSI Afterburner, there's a setting called power monitoring, once I disabled this one setting all the stuttering and freezing in SVP disappeared, the only reason I even figured it out was my Oculus Rift was also stuttering and after some googling I found a post that said all stuttering in the rift disappeared once power monitoring was disabled in afterburner but for me it also fixed SVP as well, I also altered some svp settings which may have made a difference..

I'm experiencing this weird freezing in every video I try to play in MPCHC, it started after the last windows 10 update KB4284848, not sure why but now every video is freezing up after several minutes, the audio keeps playing in the background but the video just locks up and the only way to fix it is to close mpc and restart the video. I'm using hardware acceleration on a Geforce 1070 and I've had no issues upto now, it's only since the last windows update that I've experienced this behaviour.

Recently purchased SVP Pro 4 and to my dismay i'm finding video playback is a lot more choppy than the old free version, I've dialled in exactly the same settings but it doesn't seem as fast and I noticed the video color in MPC-HC appears washed out compared to SVP version 3.1.7, I thought it might be something to do with SVP 4's overlay effecting the image some how but i'm not sure why it's effecting the color but overall i'm really disappointed, I've checked all my settings, made sure GPU acceleration was working, i'm using a Geforce 980 but for the life of me I can't get SVP 4 Pro to run the same as 3.1.7 with the same settings, I have to turn settings down on SVP Pro 4 to get the same performance as 3.1.7 and even then the video color in SVP Pro 4 is really washed out, it's a bit of a mess, not sure what's going on.

My current settings are:

Frame Interpolation mode: Uniform (max smoothness)
SVP shader: 23.Complicated
Target Frame Rate: To screen refresh rate (default)
Decrease grid step: 7px.Small 1
Search Radius: Large
Motion vectors precision: Half pixel (default)
Wide search: Strongest
Artifacts masking: Above normal
Processing of scene changes: Repeat frame (default)
Decrease Frame size: Disabled (default)

my systems specs running Windows 10 64
4790K @ 4.7ghz
Gigabyte 980 GTX watercooled
Asus Maximus VII Hero
16GB BallistixTracer 2400
Samsung 840 Pro 256 RAID

Update:

So, i think i got it to work. Doesn't crash anymore. Though i'm not exactly sure what i did. I went here http://www.svp-team.com/wiki/SVP:MPC-HC and changed this to look like instructed. (Not sure what it was before the W10 install so it might have affected it, i don't know) The thing i changed was the one under internal filter, that was wrong. Though i did a test and it crashed. I'm not sure what i did afterwards, i think i went into the ffdshow filter. (You do that by clicking on the highlighted/marked button in the bottom image on the linked page.) Under "Keys and remote" i changed the bottom check from "ffdshow_remote_message" to "user defined" and used the value present there already (32786) I honestly have no idea what it does by changing that, but i read about it somewhere else and thought it might help me not having to run SVP as administrator for it to recognize and work on videos opened through another program, though i haven't checked if it actually did what i intended it to do... (Taiga is the program for anyone wondering)

I think that was all i did, but i'm not sure if it was my actions that took care of it. But it seems to work now.

Cheers for this solved my problem, seems lav filters - nvidia cuvid setting has issues in Windows 10 with current drivers.
