hi after a reinstall a new windows i cant seem to activate fill black bars using mpv player, whether the source is sdr or hdr, am i missing something?
do i need to edit mpv config?

How did you set your tv to 72hz ?

Thanks what do these override files do fir performance? If I select x3 does my monitor refresh need to be 75hz? Or I can leave it at 60hz?

hi mytv is native 120hz but because ive connected through my denon avr ican get max 60hz refresh rate.
if i overclock my tv to 75hz and dothe following settings

adaptive / uniform - 1m - 2m / sharp / 24px / X3 fps

will iget a smoother video than doing to screen option?

im still strugginling to get a smooth soap oprea effect without getting artifacts, but reading this thread https://www.svp-team.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=5384 it seems setting it to x3 has the best result.

and what does a custom script do tohelp?

any experts whooverclock there monitor/tv can share there settings?

ive tried uniform for max smoothness but if idont set artifacts masking to strongest then i see artifacts and it annoys me, i just cant gettheright balance now.

looking for the advanced guide some people doing.

many thanks problem solved great forum.

ok another issue if i play remux hdr works fine  but if i play mkv rip i get green screen any idea why?

Hi I seem to have an issue with hdr in mpv, I used madvr and hdr worked but can't use svp with madvr as I get stutter issues, then I used mpv player and did the hdr to sdr on my 4k tv for a while  but I noticed real hdr on mpc with madvr looked much better.
so I did follow the instructions by setting windows to hdr first then playing 4k hdr movie on mpv, but it seems I get hdr picture in windowed mode, but once I double click mpv player to fullscreen,  the picture becomes non hdr, and colours all wrong.

This is my config,

vo=gpu
profile=gpu-hq
fbo-format=rgba16hf
gpu-api=vulkan
vulkan-async-compute
gpu-context=winvk
hwdec=nvdec-copy
spirv-compiler=shaderc
vulkan-queue-count=3

volume-max=100

hdr-compute-peak=yes

video-sync=display

scale=ewa_lanczossharp
cscale=ewa_lanczossharp
dscale=ewa_lanczossharp
dither-depth=auto
correct-downscaling=yes
sigmoid-upscaling=yes

deband=yes
deband-iterations=5
deband-threshold=50
deband-range=16
deband-grain=48

Any help,  svp with mpv is the only way I can play hdr movies without stutter.

Great thread, i have avery similar settings to you, this is my 4k settings for movies. this is the best i can acheive without any artifacts, i do like uniform but too many artifacts, so i went with 1.5 (less artifacts) option.
cpu i5 9600k
gpu rx 5700 xt
16gb 3400 ram

desktop  set at 4k 60hz 10 bit 4.2.0

to screen 60fps
1.5 (lesss artifacts)
10 by blocks
Disabled
One Pixel
12px
disabled
average

I've decided to share my SVP Pro and MPV Player settings. I think I've achived some "normal" playback smoothness (without soap-opera effect).  Maybe others will be interesting to do this too. I've spent a lot of time reading/asking members/devs about diffenrent things.So let's go...:

Audio/Video configuration:

PC-->A/V receiver-->TV

Windows settings:

In NV panel:4K, 59.940 Hz, 12 bit, 422 colour format.
In Windows 10 display properties: Enable HDR

Hardware:
CPU: i7 8700k ( with MCE enabled--> 4,7Ghz)
RAM:32 GB @ 3200Mhz
GPU: RTX 2070 Super (GTX 1070 was using before-also fine,just replaced because I needed USB-C video otput)

MPV config file:

vo=gpu
profile=gpu-hq
gpu-api=d3d11
hwdec=no   (in my case I had some choppy moments when using hardware decoding, I think it's due to GPU overload)

video-sync=display-desync (I think it works like Reclock but lets you do bitstreaming without audio drops)

volume-max=100

hdr-compute-peak=yes

volume-max=100

ao=wasapi
audio-exclusive=yes
audio-spdif=ac3,eac3,dts-hd,truehd (it lets all multichannel audio to passtrough)

I do not use NVOF function, don't like, it has worse artefact masking in my opinion.
Above settings I use for watching 4K HDR and 1080p; with 23,976 fps content.
AND- don't forget to turn off TV's interplation feature, it will ruine whole SVP effort smile

hi after my trial i decided to buy svp, but what i didnt realise was i couldnt passthrough atmos via default mpv player, but i instead used smplayer which worked perfect along with svp.

but now i decided to add custom mpv settings from Blackfyre in this topic https://www.svp-team.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=5907 and this doesnot work in smplayer but works in mpv player.

is there a way to either add blackfyre settings within smplayer than this will solve all my problems, or is there a code i can addto my mpv script that will enable passthrough of atmos, dts etc? at the moment my avr is getting 2ch audio via mpv, and i get full passthrough via smplayer.

alsoi found this is the best settings for me in terms of no artifacts and smoothness, i cant stand a single artifact, just ruins the experiance so i decided to stick to this.
