Topic: SVP 4 not detecting video

Hello, how are you guys?

I´m a backer for SVP 4. Received my key today.

Installed, everything went fine. Was running SVP 3.1 until 1 hour ago with no problems at all.

But the new SVP 4 will not detect my video ("no active playback"). Checked that everything was installed properly. Uninstalled and installed again. If I reinstall SVP 3.1 works flawlessly, but can´t get SVP 4 to work at all.

fddshow raw video filter is being used and forced on Media Player Classic. Avisynth was installed OK, but just in case copied the DLL files to System32 and SysWOW64.

Running Windows 10 64
Media Player Classic
AMD Radeon R9 290 (15.10 Beta Drivers).

If I don´t touch anything and install SVP 3.1 works with no problems at all.

Maybe there is another config for SVP4 to work?

Thank you.

Re: SVP 4 not detecting video

OK, just updated LAV Filters to 0.66

LAV Video Filter is set to DXVA2 (copy-back) as it should. SVP4 is still not working. Won´t detect the video playing.

Any help please?

Thank you.

Re: SVP 4 not detecting video

Check player version in menu about. It must be 32 bit (x86) version.

Re: SVP 4 not detecting video

I have this same problem as well.
3.17 still works fine if I switch back to it. The SVP 4 free worked as well when I tried it a week ago.

Win 10 x64
MPC-HC or jriver MC (both 32bit)
Nvidia 970

Re: SVP 4 not detecting video

Well it is working now, not sure why.
I reinstalled 4 allowing it to reinstall ffdshow and avisyth but it still didn't work. Tried exiting SVP4 but it would not close and had to kill it through task manager. Ran 3.17 again and it was still working. Closed 3.17 and started 4 and then it started working and now 4 closes normally if I try and exit.
Now that it's working it's looking good so far.

Thanks for the work.

Re: SVP 4 not detecting video

I admit I saw this problem couples of times. I think reboot / reinstall fixed the problem also.

Re: SVP 4 not detecting video

Hello! Thank you for your answers!

MPC is indeed the 32 bits version. Remember that SVP 3.1 works with no problems at all.

Already tried what you said, uninstalling 3.1 and 4. Reinstall 4 with AVISYNTH and fddshow, and it still not working.

SVP 4 never crashed in my system.

If I have both SVP 3.1 and 4 installed, 3.1 works fine, but same problem with 4. It´s like is not detecting the video stream.

Before SVP 4 Pro was released, tried the Free version and the same problem.

I really don´t know what else to try.

Re: SVP 4 not detecting video

any records in the Events log?

Here is the LOG file

I get some errors with "Access denied".

Tried running SVP4 Manager as administrator, and the same result.

Re: SVP 4 not detecting video

so try the opposite variant: NOT to run video player as administrator wink

Re: SVP 4 not detecting video

Solved! That was the problem.

I was running MPC-HC as administrator. But with SVP 3.1 worked well this way.

Running SVP 4 Manager as admin, and MPC as "default" user, solved the problem. Maybe it is a bug?

Thank you!

Re: SVP 4 not detecting video

Running SVP 4 Manager as admin

why?

But with SVP 3.1 worked well this way

I bet SVP 3 was running as admin too...
Don't know now why "SVP 4 as admin" + "player as admin" didn't work for you.

Re: SVP 4 not detecting video

SVP 3.1 was running as admin, yes.

But SVP 4 as "admin" or "default user" with MPC as "admin" won´t work. Only running MPC as "default" user will.

Thank you for your help.

Hi, I have the same issue! If I run it as admin, I get an error that it cannot communicate with the video player. I'm assuming this error was made for this problem?

But why does it occur in the first place? Doesn't running as admin REMOVE restrictions???

EDIT: Here's the issues going on. http://www.voidtools.com/forum/viewtopi … 974#p13974
Hopefully this will provide some insight as to the causes.
There are two separate, similar error messages that are triggered under different circumstances.

When SVP4 is run NOT AS ADMIN and launched with the program called Everything I get THIS error message:

Access to the video player is denied, is it running with Administrator privileges?

Running SVP4 AS ADMIN and launching with Everything does not make an error!

BUT, if I launch the video manually while SVP4 is running AS ADMIN I get this error message:

Error communicating with video player, maybe SVP is running with administrator privileges?

Why you need admin rights for SVP and for the player?

I don't need it for the player, it makes no difference for that. The problem is, if SVP is NOT running as admin and I launch a video with the program "Everything 1.4.0.713b" then I recieve this error from SVP:

Access to the video player is denied, is it running with Administrator privileges?

So I ran SVP as admin and it fixed that issue, BUT now if I launch a video WITHOUT "Everything 1.4.0.713b" I get a DIFFERENT error from SVP telling me to do the opposite!

Error communicating with video player, maybe SVP is running with administrator privileges?

The only way to fix that is to run SVP NOT as admin, which gives me the first error again.

So either way I lose!

If you launch "Everything" from tray icon then it open files with admin rights. It is bad.
See picture (Andrey = user; СИСТЕМА = system). But only the first time.
I did change one Everything setting (see another picture) and restart windows then situation became as must be: MPC-HC open video from Everything with user rights. wink

Try it.
