Topic: Can play 1080p but cant play 720p (XBMC DSPlayer)

Hi I'm running XBMC (DSPlayer) I've installed SVP and have used Rimsky's tutorial here And everything seems to be installed correct... when I load a 1080p file SVP loads and the file plays excellent but when I play a 720p file SVP does not load but I can hear the audio fine but screen stays black... My Plasma & Projector are 720p models, I've tried installing/un-installing various LAV Filters without any luck this seems very strange to me any advice.

Hardware:
CPU: AMD Phenom X4, GPU: Geforce 440GT, Win 7

Please, show MediaInfo of this 720p file.
You can get it by pressing Shift-F10 in MPC-HC and click at MediaInfo tab.

Re: Can play 1080p but cant play 720p (XBMC DSPlayer)

This is just an example as it happens with all my 720p files.... All 1080p files play excellent and have no problems I've added a MediaInfo sample from both 720 & 1080p

screen stays black
It is not SVP problem.

May be this is the cause?!

Try to use Haali matroska splitter and LAV splitter.

Re: Can play 1080p but cant play 720p (XBMC DSPlayer)

Hi MAG79
Thanks for the reply the default splitter was Haali so I tried the LAV Splitter and I got the same result... I've created a video below of my problem

Re: Can play 1080p but cant play 720p (XBMC DSPlayer)

Yea, this clearly doesn't have anything to do with SVP. It seems like a renderer problem to me, does XMBC support alternative renderers? That would be my first shot. Simply changing it to something else.

This is a modded version of XBMC with an internal player that uses external filters

Did you try haali or LAV splitter?

Re: Can play 1080p but cant play 720p (XBMC DSPlayer)

Try to downgrade your nvidia drivers, it may solve many problems neutral

Re: Can play 1080p but cant play 720p (XBMC DSPlayer)

Thanks for all the advice guys but I've tried all the above... As for Nvidia drivers I came from an older driver to the latest driver thinking that was my problem, 99.9% of my files are MKV... I've got a feeling that the problem lies with FFDShow not loading when on 720p files... More investigating needed I might post this up in XBMC DSPlayer section to see if it's DSPlayer related

Re: Can play 1080p but cant play 720p (XBMC DSPlayer)

Follow up guys.... I've seemed to of narowed down the problem.... I went into the Nvidia control panel and changed my resolution to 1920x1080 (My native rsolution is 1280x720) then started up XBMC and all files played (1080p & 720p) the only problem was my CPU started maxing out at 90+% and video's started juddering.... I did try and edit the 1920x1080 profile in SVP but it's all to complicated for me.... I've had to now revert back to not using SVP  sad

Re: Can play 1080p but cant play 720p (XBMC DSPlayer)

There's a setting for SVP to automaticly downsize the video, before applying frame-interpolation. Though your statements further my belief in the fact, that your renderer is the problem. If I were you, I would ask around on the XMBC forum. They would appreciate the bug report, that's for sure.

I don't see any logic here hmm
For what?

Re: Can play 1080p but cant play 720p (XBMC DSPlayer)

Could you please tell us which nvidia version drivers do you use?

MAG79: I don't see any logic here

I was just trying to narrow down what the problem could be.... After I changed the resolution to 1920x1080 in Nvidia Control Panel SVP worked with both 1080p & 720 files it was just that my CPU went sky high 90+% and SVP flashed up on screen with a CPU warning... and when I changed back to native (1280x720) 720p files dont play only audio but 1080p files play fine

Could you please tell us which nvidia version drivers do you use?

I've tried both the latest drivers (296.10 & Beta 301.24) after coming from an earlier driver (285.62)

Re: Can play 1080p but cant play 720p (XBMC DSPlayer)

It is wrong way to use resolution of videomode bigger than resolution of display.

BTW, I use nVidia driver 258.96 because of its speed on my system.
