Topic: GPU-acceleration (OpenCL) performance at NVIDIA video adapters

Hi all, i had bad performances with libflowgpu using the latest nvidia drivers, basically i was faster with libflowsse than with libflowgpu, as suggested on avs forum i reverted to driver 275.33 and i've got a significant increase in performances, my questions are: is the 275.33 still the best driver release for libflowgpu 1.2.6 ?
Second question is if you are planning to fix this for newer libflowgpu releases so we can use newer nvidia drivers without losing performances.
thanks

svp mark with newer drivers
60 fps - [SVP] good:            1.15x (68.9 fps)

svp mark with 275.33
60 fps - [SVP] good:            1.62x (97.0 fps)

Re: GPU-acceleration (OpenCL) performance at NVIDIA video adapters

I'm still sure that it's NVIDIA bug after adding "OpenCL 1.1 support" and they know it.
Try to open download page for professional Quadro series - the latest recommended version is 276.52.

Not now, I've got no NV card to play with.

Did you already test SVP with the latest NVIDIA driver that was just released and see performance improvements or decresement?

question from this post

Thank you for information about new WHQL driver 295.73. I tested 280.* and 285.*. All of them are slower than 275.33 (see details).
I will compare new driver with 275.33 soon.

I looked at Quadro drivers description. It is nothing new for 3 months: 3 last versions has the same text in Release Highlights: 276.28, 276.42, 276.52. The latest driver relates to R275 driver-set. It is the indirect confirmation that there is still no performance increase in 280.*, 285.* and 295.* driver-sets.

In official R295 release notes which consists of 60 pages I found only one place at the page 59 by searching "OpenCL". It is "OpenCL Notice" title big_smile
There is no changes declarations of OpenCL in R295.

Re: GPU-acceleration (OpenCL) performance at NVIDIA video adapters

im using and im not so bad with 285.79. you all can try it to see how it going.. but in my case im good with these at least with my setttings that im using for my profiles.

Re: GPU-acceleration (OpenCL) performance at NVIDIA video adapters

I'm using the last driver with a gtx 480 and i can quietly smooth blu-ray disc at 120fps smile

Re: GPU-acceleration (OpenCL) performance at NVIDIA video adapters

Re: GPU-acceleration (OpenCL) performance at NVIDIA video adapters

I'm happy to be right and really good performance yeah happy to see it big_smile

Re: GPU-acceleration (OpenCL) performance at NVIDIA video adapters

MAG79
OMG nice, im downloading Nvidia drivers 295.73 to test big_smile thanks.

Re: GPU-acceleration (OpenCL) performance at NVIDIA video adapters

Ok, so the 295.73 are good to go and I can skip 275.33 and my just fresh installed system?

Re: GPU-acceleration (OpenCL) performance at NVIDIA video adapters

i'll test with a no-quadro gfx, hope it will be the same also for other cards

Re: GPU-acceleration (OpenCL) performance at NVIDIA video adapters

GTX 550 Ti
ver, gpu total,  gpu calc
295.73, 3372, 676
285.58, 2358, 367

Same results (two times difference) on GT540M.

But some people said there're HDMI audio output issues with 295.73  hmm

Re: GPU-acceleration (OpenCL) performance at NVIDIA video adapters

almost same results for my gtx470 compared to 275.33, fantastic!!

Re: GPU-acceleration (OpenCL) performance at NVIDIA video adapters

Yeah 295.73 are very good. I hardly notice performance differences because I just set it and leave it to play. I do play around with the settings though.
