Topic: Patch video player executable with 4gb patch

How come this message always came up now even I googled and use the utility on svp folder to patch the potplayer on C:\Program Files (x86)\DAUM\PotPlayer... PotPlayerMini?

Using 3.1.7.. this message appeared after I upgrade my system to DDR-4 32gb ram and 5960x CPU.. never seen this error on my former 4790k with 16gb of ram so I'm confused. Hoping someone could help. Thank you...

Re: Patch video player executable with 4gb patch

Have you tried uninstalling and completely deleting all old video player / CODEC / Avisynth folders and reinstalling the complete package from the SVP homepage?

Also, you could try MPC-HC instead of Potplayer?
MPC-HC usually performs better and more stable for me.

Please show your last launch log (SVP tray menu - Information - Last launch log).
It can clear the cause why patched player wants to be patched again roll

Re: Patch video player executable with 4gb patch

I see in the log:

12:47:25.007; ===== Detected playback with ffdShow. AppName: PotPlayerMini.exe, PID: 9252, supports 2GB RAM ONLY. Patch video player executable with "4GB Patch"

Maybe You have several potPlayerMini in different folders? But This one is not pathed.
You can look Location of used PotPlayerMini in the Task Manager (process or detail tab - right click - properties).

tried your suggestion but even it say it was patched it always says the same error, I even copy the exe to other folder and patch there but no avail? Using 1.6.55390 version of Potplayer.. it even creates PotPlayerMini.exe.Backup so I know it changed the exe but the patch don't work sad maybe problem on latest version of Potplayer?

I tried running an anime too with potplayer and patch it and says "couldn't open executable!" so I think I'm in a right directory of exe to apply the patch sad

Maybe you want to try this?
PotPlayer portable, setup the player with usual setting.

I think the problem is your installed PotPlayer, since the portable version play it correctly.

I suggest you to do clean re-install your PotPlayer.
(Clean re-install means remove it first, and install it again after that).

okay will try that, this potplayer is not yet uninstalled when I installed my new hardware and upgraded from windows 8.1 to Windows 10, have same experience on windows 8.1 though..

EDIT:

Uninstalled and used ccleaner.. same problem sad dunno what to do about this problem

Just suggesstion...
some magic windows application restoring your potplayermini.exe file to initial state... hmm
Try to install PotPlayer to another location. Try to apply 4GB patch before launch first time.

Re: Patch video player executable with 4gb patch

Oke I think I found what the problem is.. when the potplayer is on drive C.. it always saying the 4gb patch.. even on mashingan portable potplayer.. I just encountered it now 'cause I will just use his app for this problem.. the portable potplayer have the same error 4gb patch when on drive C and no problem error when copied and used on other drives   sad  so windows problem? Using windows 10 btw

Re: Patch video player executable with 4gb patch

not enough user rights to write the file?

Re: Patch video player executable with 4gb patch

Use HashTab to check checksumms. Do they differ or not etc.

Re: Patch video player executable with 4gb patch

Sausuke

While I don't know the exact way to solve this, I suggest you do the workaround:
1. Using PotPlayer portable, put it in different drive (e.g. in drive D or other).
2. Go to that PotPlayer portable and make the shortcut for it (right-click the .exe and choose "create shortcut", you can rename the shortcut to whatever you like).
3. Cut and paste that shortcut to your Start Menu (C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\, change that <your username> with the actual your username folder, make sure to configure "show hidden folder" because AppData is hidden.).
4. The shortcut should be appear in Start Menu, now open the PotPlayer portable itself and press F5 to open the configuration.
5. Look for Association tab over there, and choose your preferred video file extension to played with your PotPlayer.

The above are just workarounds, to really solve the problem, you need several different player to check whether this is only limited to your PotPlayerMini.exe, and try to play with and without the SVP and observe what it gives. (You can try to use MPC-HC, MPC-BE, VLC etc, all of those don't have to be installed).
If you can remember, maybe you want to trace back when the last time you can play it fine and check whether at time you installed something or do something with control panel.

I never have problem like this so I don't know for sure what causing it smile

Re: Patch video player executable with 4gb patch

there's a backup when I patch.. I compared the hash to mashigan portable player and it is the same even on patch.. tried on all my drives the hash is the same.. here's the pic of backup and patched potplayer mini

http://i.imgur.com/XoImwZi.png

btw I tried on other app exe and the hash change.. I dunno why on potplayer mini it doesn't though

EDIT: wrong pic will edit hehe
EDIT: Done

Re: Patch video player executable with 4gb patch

Tell me please, did you launch 4GBPatch.exe as Admin?

Edit: maybe file is already patched, and therefore checksumms do not change.

Yes I admin the 4gbpatch.exe too.. I reinstalled datum potplayer 32bit from scratch and patch it again so that screenshot is from a newly installed potplayer and tried to patch it with admin privilage. I guess I'll have to use the potplayer portable on other drive for this problem.

Have you tried to rollback into old ram before you upgraded your PC?
Perhaps the old ram has different DDR version with this newly upgraded one?
