Topic: Problems with 1080p

The sound runs fine, but the video stops after ~1s
I've tried to change settings, and the only one that changes anything is "Decrease frame size". When I put 720px height or lower it runs smoothly

I'm using MPC-HC 32bit
I ran SVPMark which returned this:

1. Try to disable Outer lighting in SVP tray menu. Does it help?
2. What player are you using? What renderer is selected?

Re: Problems with 1080p

1. It's already disabled
2. I'm using MPC-HC 32bit with Enhanced Video Renderer (custom presenter)

Re: Problems with 1080p

Try the following:

Set "Decrease grid step" to "Disabled (default)"

If that's not enough, also do the following:

Set "Motion vectors precision" to "Two pixels"

If that's still not enough, do this as well:

Set "Frames interpolation mode" to "2m (min artifacts)"

If you still have problems, then make sure your video isn't encoded in VP9, because unless you use a trunk build of LAVfilters you'll have massive CPU usage when decoding 1080p VP9 videos. (if you're playing via MPC-HC, you can find this out via File -> Properties)

None of this worked, unfortunately

I don't really know what VP9 is, but I didn't see it in file -> properties

Did you try all three settings at the same time?

Also make sure you're using  the "Enhanced Video Renderer" (View -> Options -> Output -> under "DirectShow Video"), and also try enabling "D3D Fullscreen" and testing in, well, fullscreen. (note that you may need to restart MPC-HC for these settings to be applied).

In File -> Properties, click the MediaInfo tab, under "Video" look at "Codec ID".

Yes

Tried it, doesn't work

In File -> Properties, click the MediaInfo tab, under "Video" look at "Codec ID".

V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC

Again, in File -> Properties, click the MediaInfo tab, under "Video" look at "Bit depth".

What does it say?

And while you're at it, while still using those settings I mentioned before, try disabling "GPU acceleration (OpenCL)" in SVP.  Alternatively, if it was already disabled, try enabling it.

EDIT: One thing is to make sure that the SVP profile you are changing is actually being used.  You can confirm this by looking at the list of SVP profiles while SVP and the video is paused - the active profile should be bolded on the list.

What does it say?

Bit depth                      : 8 bits

And while you're at it, while still using those settings I mentioned before, try disabling "GPU acceleration (OpenCL)" in SVP.

Still not working

It's using the profile I'm changing

Ok, then, try this in MPC-HC:

View -> Options -> Internal Filters -> Video decoder

Under "Hardware Decoder to use", set "Intel QuickSync"

Click OK.

Then in MPC-HC, go to:

View -> Options -> External Filters

Uncheck everything EXCEPT "ffdshow raw video filter".

Restart MPC-HC.

EDIT: While MPC-HC is closed, check your CPU utilization in the Windows Task Manager.

Re: Problems with 1080p

Doesn't work

~2%

Thanks for trying to help me by the way

Ok then...

Assuming that you are OK with losing any profiles you've made, try resetting your SVP profiles to the default setting of 1c.

EDIT: Try looking at your CPU utilization while decoding whatever video in quesiton you're using, but with SVP closed.

I already tried that before coming here. I tried again just in case, but it still doesn't work

Re: Problems with 1080p

Is it happened when you're playing all 1080p videos?

Re: Problems with 1080p

Did you try my edit?

EDIT: Speaking of edit, in SVP set "Frames interpolation mode" to "Off", playback the according video with SVP open, and report back the CPU utilization.

EDIT 2: Hopefully you didn't reinstall the SVP core like I initially suggested - I figured it'd be better to first check the CPU utilization under the conditions I mentioned.

I did try before, on default high settings, it didn't work
On 1c another video seems to work, but the original still doesn't

Edit:

EDIT: Speaking of edit, in SVP set "Frames interpolation mode" to "Off", playback the according video with SVP open, and report back the CPU utilization.

It moves a lot, between 5% to over 70%

And what is the CPU utilization with SVP open but interpolation mode set to off while playing back the problematic video?

Does the working video work with higher settings, such as 3c?

It works on 4c

On 5c the sound is delayed but the video works

The problem is with the original video instead of your setting then.

Maybe, I don't know, the video works fine when SVP is disabled

That ain't rigiht.  I know the CPU utilization is higher with SVP set to "Off" rather than it being closed, but it shouldn't be that high.

If you're willing to go for broke, try re-installing the SVP core, but using the previous 3.1.5 version instead:

It works! Thanks

By the way, unrelated but what's the difference between 4c and 4g?

Re: Problems with 1080p

Hmm, it works with 315 instead 316

Did you update the 316 before with hotfixes?

I was installing 316 too as soon it was released, but then I immediately reverted back to 315.
I only installed 316 after hotfixes released, and it has been working fine since then smile

Re: Problems with 1080p

I had installed the hotfixes

If you're feeling daring, you could try re-installing 3.1.6 core again + the latest hotfixes.

Nyan wrote:

4g has higher profile settings, that's all.  There's no magical behind-the-sceens difference between the "c" and "g" settings though.

EDIT:

Nyan wrote:

Well you aren't alone with your issues with 3.1.6.

Around 12 months ago I had done a fresh install of SVP 3.1.6 along with the according hotfixes but ran into an issue where SVP wouldn't want to activate even though the program was totally running and the taskbar icon was there and all.  Using 3.1.5 fixed the issue.

Oddly enough though, when I tried 3.1.6 again a month ago it worked perfectly...
