Topic: how to use GPU Acceleration with Radeon?

I used to use LAV / CUVID to make use of my GeForce 770GTX

Now that I got a Dual Radeon M9 290X Crossfire, what codec / setting do I need to use to make use of the Radeon's GPU acceleration? DXVA only uses CPU acceleration I believe

With my Splash Player, it has something called AVIVO GPU Acceleration for the Radeon

please help

System specs:

ALIENWARE 18 Laptop
CPU: Intel Core i7-4810MQ CPU @ 4GHz (6MB Cache)

Re: how to use GPU Acceleration with Radeon?

hmm, is this guide good?

does that mean to install LAV and use DXVA?

But use Native or Copyback?

Re: how to use GPU Acceleration with Radeon?

SVP is compatible to DXVA Copy Back but is incompatible to DXVA Native.

Re: how to use GPU Acceleration with Radeon?

ah ok, and would DXVA Copy Back use the Radeon GPU or the CPU?

Re: how to use GPU Acceleration with Radeon?

I bet it'll use Intel's gpu

Re: how to use GPU Acceleration with Radeon?

Chainik

But in my Alienware 18 laptop, you cannot have both, once I select the Radeon the system reboots and the switch is permenant until I switch to the Intel GPU again so there is no way it would use the Intel GPU as it isn't there really since I'm booted with the Radeon M290X Crossfire...

so basically, there seems to be no way to make usre of hardware acceleration in MPC-HC if SVP only supports DXVA Copy Back sad

I hope a future update will change this as not everyone has an nVIDIA GPU
I would love if SVP can make use of AMD Radeon's AVIVO technology

Re: how to use GPU Acceleration with Radeon?

hmm
in this case "dxva copy back" will use AMD's card since it's the only card in the system

if your initial question "is amd supports dxva decoding" - the answer is yes
