Topic: How to ensure minimum interference from ffdshow?

Hello,

I am using madVR in conjunction with LAV filters, and since SVP requires that ffdshow is loaded in order to function properly, I would like to ask if there is anything in ffdshow's options that I should change in order to assure that ffdshow has the utmost minimum interference with PotPlayer's LAV & madVR output.

Currently, what I do is add "ffdshow raw video filter" in "Global Filter Priority" to "Prefer" and I do not change anything at all in ffdshow (ffdshow version as is from the SVP installer).

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Re: How to ensure minimum interference from ffdshow?

May be just one thing - ensure that ffdshow doesn't do any color conversion. So there should be YV12 input (from LAV) and YV12 output (to madVR).
By default output is set to NV12, which is not a big (or small) difference but just to make it the pure bypass filter smile

Re: How to ensure minimum interference from ffdshow?

Thank you for responding; I tried researching the "pure bypass filter" online and also browsed around on ffdshow's settings but I really do not understand how to do this.

The only thing I saw in relation to "NV12" that you mentioned, is the fact that the two ffdshow tray icons report the following:

1st tray icon: Input: YV12 (uncompressed)
                     Output: NV12

2nd tray icon: Input YU2 (uncompressed)
                      Output: YU2

Changing the "color space" from "Auto" to "YN12" provides me with:

1st tray icon: Input: YV12 (uncompressed)
                     Output: YV12

2nd tray icon: Input YU2 (uncompressed)
                      Output: YV12

Unfortunately, although they are two separate tray icons, changing the settings affect both, so I can either have "Auto" on "color space" or something else. Is this correct now or is there something else I should do?

Re: How to ensure minimum interference from ffdshow?

why there're TWO icons?  hmm

anyway, YV12 output is just fine

Re: How to ensure minimum interference from ffdshow?

No idea, this is happening since some version of ffdshow after the one SVP 3.1.5 uses - I remember this because when I installed the latest ffdshow with SVP 3.1.5 I had two tray icons, while before (on the ffdshow version bundled with SVP 3.1.5). This is how it looks:

Two different tray icons with different information:

1st tray icon: http://i.imgur.com/trLxnHl.jpg

2nd tray icon: http://i.imgur.com/h1olfWf.jpg

However, under the "info" tab only the first tray icon runs with information, the other one is clear: http://i.imgur.com/jFsQf56.jpg

And this is how the settings look like, I also disabled de-interlacing (not sure if it makes a difference): http://i.imgur.com/yETIQgU.jpg

Is everything well now or is there a way to make it pure like you said?

Thanks again.

cool  big_smile
I think that completely removing ffdshow and installing it again can help with the second icon.

Is everything well now

yeah I think so

Re: How to ensure minimum interference from ffdshow?

I already did reinstall it multiple times in the past because of this issue. However, the double tray icon problem insisted. Should I find and download the latest version and try again or will it interfere with SVP's performance?

Re: How to ensure minimum interference from ffdshow?

as far the 2nd one is not actually in use - just leave it wink

Re: How to ensure minimum interference from ffdshow?

Fair enough. Please let me know if something comes into your mind about a setting I should change to assure no interference!

Thank you for your time.
