Topic: Do I need DirectX 9 if I have DirectX 11?

I remember while using the Makens Guide somewhere down the line I was asked to install DirectX 9 but I quickly cancelled as I have 11 installed

Is 9 essential for PotPlayer / some of the components to work?


What is the rule usually? one would only need the latest DirectX right? or should he have the older ones too?

SVP uses DirectShow (part of DirectX). SVP can work at native DirectX what installs with windows.
But MPC need some more DirectX files not included in windows setup.
And it is recommended to install DirectX Jun'10 (web installer/full installer) after windows installs.
