Topic: VR Requirements and settings

What are the minimum requirements for VR?  90fps?  120FPS? 

3d Vr videoos at 5400 x 2700 @90FPS?  120FPS?

3d Vr videoos at 7680 x 3840 @90FPS?  120FPS?

Are there any tweaks or settings to increase speed or use SVP in Real-time?  It seems like Whirligig is the preferred VR player. 

Any hints or tweaks to Transcode VR?

So using an rtx 3080 and an 3950x, it does like like 5k videos aren't doable in real time.  If anybody has any settings to make it happen let me know, but I'm guessing it's going to be another generation change before this is doable.

I bet if you open it in a regular video player it will play fluently.
Even my 4800H+2600 laptop can do 2700p @60 -> 120 fps

- switch to NVIDIA CUVID in the LAV Video decoder properties
- switch SVP from "3D" mode to 2D
- enable NVIDIA Optical Flow in SVP

Just tried playing the file in MPC (Media Player Classic) and yes, it does seem to play those files fine at 90 or 120 FPS.  Playing them in Whirligig doesn't seem to work.  Changing from 3d to 2d provided a BIG speed increase, (from .5 to .75 on 5400 x2700) but it still isn't fast enough.

The other options (Using Nvidia Cuvid, Nvidia Optical Flow turned on) were already set.

3840 x 1920 files can be played just fine.  It seems the others are just too big for Whirligig to Smooth out. 

Any suggestions on how to get Whirligig to work with files of such enormous size?  Or is the overhead of using VR players too much? 

I'm currently transcodeing a 5400x2700 video to 120FPS and getting roughly 11FPS using NVENC.  Does that sound about right?
