Topic: Performance x86 vs. x64 player

Hello,

What is the recommended player type for best performance, x86 or x64?

Did a test with MPC HC (1.8.6) x86 versus the x64 version, same settings. Cpu was at 65% on the x64 version and 75% on the x86. Gpu was at 92% in both cases.
This is the use in Task manager for MPC HC only.
The render time in madvr OSD is about the same.

Lav 0.74.1 x86 and x64 installed, madvr 0.92.17.
Intel i5 8400 full turbo (3.8-3.9Ghz), GTX 1060, Win10x64.

Via Codec Tweak Tools ffdshow video decoder and ffdshow video processor can be inspected, for both x86 and x64.
In ffdshow video decoder x86, under Codecs, AviSynth is disabled.
In ffdshow video decoder x64 it's enabled.

AviSynth however is not ticked in the left side panel in any of the 4 settings menu.
It is ticked when ffdshow is accessed via the taskbar when SVP is active.
Can't tell if this is the 64 or 32 bit version. Under Codecs there is only raw enabled.

What is the preferred solution?

Re: Performance x86 vs. x64 player

x64 is recommended.
Use what you like. Both x86 and x64 are working wink

Re: Performance x86 vs. x64 player

Thanks.

Do I need to change anything in ffdshow relating to Avisynth?

Re: Performance x86 vs. x64 player

it doesn't matter for 1080p but x64 is more stable (ex lot of rewind)
