Re: MakeN PotPlayer Guide - Not Dead Yet 2021 W.I.P.

Hi!

I have been using your guide when I first found out about svp over a month ago. However, I recently ran into a problem with potplayer as it was no longer opening any links. I often streamed anime through potplayer via a directly link. This method no longer works for me and while youtube links had also opened before, it no longer does either. I uninstalled everything related to your guide and decided to go through it again hoping that the fresh start would fix the problem. After following your guide again, I found that everything looks a lot better. Unfortunately though, it still will not open links. The majority of the links that I tried do not work, however, there were 2 that I found that did work.

So something like this would work https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84m-0uO39SY and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLUvHUzd4UA

However other music videos I try to play do not work like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-B5XAxDQ8w

I'm not sure if this is an issue with potplayer or something else because I have tried other direct links (non-youtube) that have worked before but now no longer work. I am pretty sure nothing on my system changed so really confused about this. This is the error I get: http://puu.sh/lBEp8/84db02237d.png

If you see at the bottom, the player still retrieves the info from the video but does not play. :<

Edit: After posting I decided to do some more testing, I am actually able to play a lot more youtube videos than I thought. However, it's about 50/50 at this point. I love kpop and for some reason almost all of the kpop videos are unplayable on potplayer.

Edit 2: The more detailed error message says something about pints failed to render http://puu.sh/lC7Vn/282eb07019.png

This has never happened before

Hi, thats a common problem of PotPlayer and youtube sometimes.

This worked for me  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-B5XAxDQ8w the first try, but later it didnt after trying to rewind, etc. also my internet is not that good in the day. This one didnt worked in the first try https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84m-0uO39SY . It did after few intents.

Follow this instructions and see what happen:

1- Reset ( initialize ) PotPlayer, go to " Preferences " then go all the way down until you find " Initialize ". It will reset the player to it default settings.
2- Create a new " Preset " in the " Configuration " tab. Name it as you like, something like " Online kpop ", etc.
3- Without following nothing from the Guide, just try to open the link again and see what happen. If it work or its less problematic than when you use my custom settings, create another Preset, name it, configure it all again following the Guide, save. When you are about to watch your kpop youtube videos, load " Online kpop " Preset ", when you are about to watch anything else that is not online then load the other Preset that have all the settings from the Guide.

i have long time without watch youtube in potplayer, when i did, it was with mpc-hc that is less problematic with this or download all youtube video clips i wanted using X app and watch them with potplayer + svp.

Keep me updated about your problem.

PS: Thanks for using the guide

edit2: I also " Reset " the player and re-configured it all over again and its working better now. SVP is not in use.

Re: MakeN PotPlayer Guide - Not Dead Yet 2021 W.I.P.

Hey, thank you for replying to my problem! I actually decided to take it another step further and uninstalled everything again, restarted my computer, and only installed potplay and try to see if the videos would work. The result is that it doesn't. The same videos work for me while the ones that don't continue to not play. It is not a huge problem as I could just download and watch but I am just a little confused because this has never been a problem. I liked having the convenience of not having to download but I am willing to compromise for the glory of potplayer + your guide.

On another note, BIG thanks on your guide. While I used your guide before, I never bothered to adjust the madvr settings at all. Even though my youtube videos didn't work, some of the videos I had downloaded looked a lot cleaner and the color was very natural. Everything also sounds a lot better too. Ty ty again!

Hey try again but untick " open with subtitles ". Use EVR Custom Present , video renderer as shown on the screenshots. This is with SVP active now, all your links are working here now http://www.overpic.net/viewer.php?file= … vchpcf.jpg
Are you using the recommended PotPlayer version right ?

edit2: use this app its very good to download youtube videos, it work with almost all links ( including those vids encoded at 60 fps ). it call: 4K Video Downloader, its free and easy to use. I use it all the time to download and watch music video clips and more like you from youtube then play them with potplayer + svp = play n forget.

Thank you really mate

Re: MakeN PotPlayer Guide - Not Dead Yet 2021 W.I.P.

Yeah! I use that same downloader haha. And I've never had the "Open with subtitles" ticked but the videos still aren't working for me T_T. Oh well. I'm not sure what's going on with my end. The madvr really makes a difference though. I really like it!

new settings makes things with low quality ( encoded ) way better than before, also madvrs updates, etc.

That is 130 megas mp4 file at 848x480 resolution, then with madvrs image doublng, custom settings, etc. looks much better than original without it.

Thats 720p + madvr + image doubling + custom settings ( guide ).

I just use madvr for anything less than 1080p and everything ( including 1080p ) with very low video bitrate / quality. I cant watch Anime without madvr + image doubling. For high quality encoded stuffs from Blurays, etc. then EVR CP video renderer.

Its common problem of the player, you could try mpc-hc what is less problematic with youtube, but with the recommended potplayer version in the guide right now, i have less problems with youtube + svp. If you dont have patient to fix your problem just keep using that app for your fav video music clips and more then play them with this very nice player ( potplayer ) + svp and forget.

Re: MakeN PotPlayer Guide - Not Dead Yet 2021 W.I.P.

Why is it that you only use madvr for anything less than 1080p? Even at 1080p I notice that the videos I've watched are cleaner and a lot sharper than with evr. Another thing, how do I get youtube to work with mpc? Been trying to google it but haven't exactly found a comprehensive guide yet.

Thats 1080p Bluray source + potplayer + EVR CP video renderer + custom settings to enhanced image quality + guide.

To save performance for my svp settings, using madvr + image doubling + svp combo is very demanding for gpus ( more if abused high settings are in use to increase quality ). Long ago i did a comparison of the same high quality material with madvr and without it and what only changed was the image was more " sharpen " with it than without it if the player was running at default settings. I see better results with stuffs with lower quality, you can easily spot the differences.

For the moment i dont sorry, i just used MPC-HC with default settings, just added " ffdShow raw video filter " in custom filters to be able to use SVP. But still sometimes i had the same problems with some youtube links as it was with potplayer.

edit2: This is 1080p Bluray source + potplayer + madvr with guide settings ( no image doubling )
http://img.overpic.net/thumbs/o/p/n/xopn65ik46zjbkm0lxz6_s.jpg

Not much differences as you can see, only is i have more performance with EVR CP than madVR and for such close quality in " this case ", its a waste to put more heat on my cpus and gpus.

Re: MakeN PotPlayer Guide - Not Dead Yet 2021 W.I.P.

Good day, Maken!

Thank you for providing us with this awesome guide.

Just wanted to ask a question regarding your new guide. You see, I've been having trouble running HEVC x265 files using your new guide. Whenever I try to play HEVC x265 files, the player just crashes. (see pic below:
http://i.imgur.com/7YZan8l.jpg

I was able to run them last time using your older guide.
What seems to be the problem here and how could I solve it?

Hoping for your advice. TIA

Alright. I did what you said and it worked. I changed the video decoder back to its default [FFmpeg Decoder].

Now I just have one last question.
Why is that Nvidia CUDA doesn't work on my machine? I currently have a GTX 970. Does it have anything to do with its Drivers?

It is because of latest NVIDIA video drivers.
Windows 10 - video player hangs and/or crashes

Hi, did you tried play that x265 with nvidia cuda and without svp ? because nvidia cuda dont work well in win 10 with potplayer, same with mpc-hc even if you use lav video decoder followed ncuvid enabled. Here only work with x264 without madvr image doubling and svp. Better use dxva2 as recommended in the guide. Nvidia Cuda work without any problem in Win 8.1 with any combo: potplayer + svp, potplayer + madvr, potplayer + madvr + svp, potplayer + madvr (image doubling) + svp. Same with mpc-hc + etc etc.

Thank you for use the guide.

It's actually the other way around. I had just installed Driver 359.00 and it all works now smile

I did. It just crashed. From the looks of it, the issue occurs on my GPU Driver side for all ran smoothly after updating it.

I would like to MAG79 and Maken1 for the quick responses and for this guide. Thank you guys. You're all awesome! smile

ah man, so its the same problem sad was expecting something else. meh dx9 to dx11 in a video acceleration, can't be that much of a loss, yes? tongue

Re: MakeN PotPlayer Guide - Not Dead Yet 2021 W.I.P.

hi rymnd6c28

In the guide says if you have problems setting dxva2 copy-back dx11, then select dx9. Using the potplayer version recommended on the top of the guide, both work, at least for me, if not complete for you even using that potplayer version then use dx9 solved problem.
