Topic: SVP manager silently crashes on launch [Windows 10]

What the title says, if I mouse over its taskbar icon it just disappears.

Here's my clinfo.log and log.txt files, I've already tried doing a fresh driver reinstall using DDU.

Is this happened every time you launch the SVP manager?

This was happened too when I was using Windows 7, but not frequently. Actually the process itself was running, but the icon disappeared when I hovered to icon tray.
Restarting the SVP manager solved for me, of course I need to end the running SVP manager first using task manager.

I suggest you re-install the SVP in Windows 10.

I've reinstalled it once already to try and fix an issue regarding video playback in MPC-HC freezing when SVP started (but audio still played). Apparently that was a driver issue all along though related to CUDA.

Couldn't find the process in the task manager and yes it happens every time now, persists over restarts, going to try reinstalling again.

Well that was weird, it seems that install was just broken somehow. Windows didn't even pick SVP up in the Control Panel, had to go through folders and find the uninstall.exe files. Appears to work just fine now! Not even having the video freezing issue again, which doesn't make sense since I was using all defaults before too...

Hello. New member here and after much headscratching and consulting the forums here, this thread is closest to the problem I am having. I'll be as detailed as I can at this stage.

I have SVP 3.1.7a and it works perfectly. Never had any problems with it. I purchased SVP 4 earlier today and cannot get it to work at all. I had the same issue as that described in post one - the SVP Manager icon would pop up briefly in the task bar... and in task manager then disappears and nothing runs. (SVP 3.1.7a still works fine)

I am using Windows 10 64 bit professional - it's up to date except I opted not to install the infamous anniversary update. My PC has Intel integrated i5 4460 graphics and I just updated the display drivers and since then, the icon doesn't appear in the taskbar at all but does still pop up briefly in task manager. I have tried running it normally and as admin. I tried a different compatability mode (Windows 8) which prompted me for my licence key again which was rejected. I can't even find a log file to paste into here. I have uninstalled and reinstalled SVP 4 3 times. I have looked at various posts here but none seem to relate to my problem except for the one described in the first post - SVP Manager simply won't run. Unfortunately, it appeared the issue was resolved but we have absolutely no idea how or why!

Any help would be enormously appreciated. Any questions or further details please ask and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. I really like SVP - been using it for years and it's rather unfortunate I decide to buy it and can't get it to work at all!

I can only hope you exited the SVP 3 Manager before launching SVP 4 wink

Just in case - remove all *.cfg files from %appdata%\SVP4\settings

OK, I can get the same error, but I have to set an impossible value in the configuration to achieve this.

I deleted the .cfg files from that folder and that did the trick - SVP4 is now working!

Interesting question is how the hell it wrote invalid values into configuration o_O

Have you tried any other SVP 4 version(s) before?

I tried SVP4 last year on my laptop running Windows 7 and never had any issues - worked fine though I reverted back to 3 because the processor in the laptop and graphics were straining! I got this new PC in January, upgraded to Windows 10 just before the deadline so hadn't tried SVP4 on this setup. I was using SVP 3 with zero problems so figured upgrading to SVP4 was the logical move since this PC is powerful enough.

Hope this experience helps iron out potential problems and issues for future users and thanks again for the help.
