I see. It is not normal. Please send us bug report just after you will see huge framerate again.
SVP tray menu - Information - Send problem report...

We will search what the problem in your logs.

Did you find any solution, or do you have something I can try meanwhile?

Nintendo Maniac 64 wrote:

In the meantime, if you're using SVP Pro, try manually specifying "Movie x3" or "72 fps".

I have tried with both. Movie x3 is a lot smoother, but I still experience the huge frame rate as I do with stand alone 72fps sad

Btw could I ask for your SVP setting too, its looks like you have some good info for this kind of thing, I would appreciate it a lot! smile

What do you mean by all four alternatives?!

For both Luma and Chroma all on 64 neurons in the Image doubling section?

ionutm80 wrote:

Hi just to add my 2 cents here on image upscaling / doubling:
- for low powered systems like Intel NUC, DXVA scalling is the way to go since it saves sufficient resources to allow for SVP and is very similar to Lanczos 3 + AR (only for Intel iGPU, not for NVidia or AMD).
- for more potent systems: anything 576/480p -> 1080p NNEDI3 64 Neurons image doubling is king + Lanczos 3AR for image upscaling,  the rest is only marginal improvement, for 720p -> 1080p Jinc for image upscaling or if the system allows NNEDI 32 Neurons could be seen as good options
Anything higher than Bicubic75AR for Chroma upscaling is a waste of resources, I could not see any visible improvement but ... my eyes are not perfect.
Image downscaling: Bicubic100 is more than sufficient (Catmull-Rom is a fancy name of Bicubic 50).

Oh, thank you so much for this settings I really appreciate it, as for Image doublling do I put all four alternatives on 64 neurons?

I haven't fixed it yet, too. Maybe it's just me, but the stuttering I've experienced is minimal. It's still dropping frames in constant rate, though.

Which SVP settings are you using?

I think every HorribleSubs releases that I'm following this season has that frame-rate. (Hundred, Sousei no Onmyouji, and Gakusen Toshi Asterisk).

In my case, it was constantly dropping 1 frame for 1 second or so. I thought the problem because of 8-bit video that use GPU hardware decoding (my gpu system that I can access now very weak compared to my old system), but after some observation, it's because of the frame-rate.

The stuttering didn't really noticeable though.

How did you fix it, please help me too!

I have been having this issue so long now, and I have only ignored it, but after watching a anime which had crazy fights I noticed that it starts lagging since my shitty fps can't stay at 72fps and decided to jump over it and it even goes to crazy numbers like 100-200. Someone please help me solve this, so I can enjoy using SVP again. Only because of this I am unable to enjoy anything, and if I turn off SVP its like its lagging, since i've been so accustomed to using SVP i can't live with out it now! sad

I tried with both MP-HC even same result as with Potplayer (My main player).
Here is two picture corresponding to both players

There is can be some not suitable filter in the list.

In that case, how is my list? Should I add something change? I am using potplayer.

Are you telling me that its an order for the filter list lol? Damn! Mind looking at mine too?

Here is mine:
Jinc on Chroma and Image Upscaling
Camul on Image Downscaling

reinstall graphics drivers

I was going to try that but I found another solution by deleting the SVP 4 folder in Appdata/Roaming, and then reinstalling the SVP I was able to make it work again. Thank god! big_smile

I was going to watch anime and suddenly I am getting this stupid yellow text line on top of my player, which wont let me use SVP. Any solution?

Been using SVP for over a year now. I still find myself wondering about the settings all the time.
These are the settings I've found that worked pretty well for me (at least for anime):

Uniform/Adaptive (Pretty much the same from my experience, as long as you don't mind some artifacts)
Sharp/Standard/Complicated (Sharp will give you less artifacts but standard and complicated are much smoother. I personally prefer complicated.)
Artifacts Masking disabled (Using weakest/weak/... reduce smoothness. Even the slightest artifact masking reduces smoothness quite a bit for me).
Half Pixel (for increased precision, always been better for me, as long as you can spare the cpu).
12 px. Average 2 for Motion Vector grid (I've found this setting to actually work wonders for smoothness. Any lower and you get noticeable artifacts).
Decrease grid step by 2 with global refinement (ABSOLUTELY must use this setting with anime if you can spare the cpu. Without this hardsubs are unbearable).
Search radius: small and fast (This one I have not tested too extensively I was wondering if anyone could explain this thoroughly. What to use with anime, and not with).
Wide Search: strongest (Not too sure about this one either. If you can spare the CPU use strongest)
Large Width Coarse (Irrelevant setting applies to 4k and 2k video which I never have).
Repeat frame/Blend adjacent (I have yet to notice a difference here but I have not tested enough. I stick with repeat).

Like Nintendo Maniac mentioned, I also found a 72Hz overclocked monitor to be quite smoother than 60Hz standard.

I'm wondering how many threads I should use with my CPU.

System Specs:
AMD FX-8350 Vishera 8-Core OC'd to 4.6 GHz
GeForce GTX 760
Monitor: ASUS VS247H-P OC'd from 60Hz to 72Hz.
Windows 10

For your Intel Core i5 6600 (4 logical cores) you should start from 9 threads in SVP. And increase that number in case with lack of performance.

Thanks it definitely a lot smoother now, but I noticed something my frame rates keep rising over 72 fps, so my gpu and cpu gets used to much, and then it lags slightly every so often. Any solution to this too?
Would appreciate it, thanks! big_smile

I  am using Potplayer, LAV, Reclock and MadVr if you are wondering.

Your PC is way more than enough for 480p content, even if it was 10bit.

Basically you could "max out" SVP's settings and still not even get close to hitting the limit of your system.

Really then you might as well just set everything to maximum (except artifact masking) and then experiment with the following two settings because they will directly effect the artifacting:

SVP Shader
Motion vectors grid

(though for anime, you don't really want to use any shader settings other than "Sharp" or "Complicated")

Also, with such high settings, you may need to increase the amount of processing threads that SVP uses (currently it's "automatic" selection is not great) because otherwise you can get slow performance while still only using like 30% CPU utilization; you want to use the smallest amount of processing threads possible that still gives you a perfectly smooth result.

A couple other things to recommend that are not exclusive to anime nor SVP but can still help:

If you use MadVR, set SVP to use your Intel integrated graphics while your Radeon 390 is used for MadVR.

Also use MPC-HC's or MadVR's automatic resolution changer (may require the use of custom resolutions) to automatically set your screen refresh rate to an exact multiple of the source video frame rate (because 24fps playing back at 72Hz is smoother and has less artifacts than 24fps playing at 75Hz).

Oh thanks for letting me know, but how many threads should I use 11-15?

I am watching anime and this one doesn't exist in 720 or higher, so I have to watch in 480p. Therefore I am wondering what is the best settings for SVP for 480p?

Current:
Uniform
Sharp
Disabled
One Pixel
12px
Disabled
Large
Strongest
Large
Blend adjacent frames

Nah, you are not dumb for asking. Anyway this theme I am using is for the whole windows 10 system UI, also meaning apps and software, which I like. If you want it I can give you the links, but beware that if you do the instruction incorrect, you will most likely mess up Windows and would need to reinstall it.

Here is another example, it looks very cool, and its easy to setup, at least I think so, but you can mess up your system, so beware.

That's why you do this kinds of things right after freshly installing your OS (especially if your data is located on a different partition) - that way you don't lose anything if you need to re-install the OS again.

So uh, link?

I said you might mess up the system, beware that you are editing the UI and one wrong move and the screen will also go black and you might need a restore  the OS VIA USB, since when you try to enter to the OS, it won't show iself and will only flash black.

First of all be sure that you are running the lastest version of WIndows 10. not 8 but 10. The update version MUST be 1511 AKA 10586.
Let's start you need to patch your OS before you can run the theme I am using, or any other. You might get in the future.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/kxbqqven4sfxm … 2.zip?dl=0

1. Extract all to the desktop, or any place of your choosing.
2. Run "All_in_One.cmd" as Administrator
3. Your system might reboot after the CMD installation is done.
4. After reboot. Right click the desktop hover over "Apperance" and the click "personalize theme"
5. The theme name should be under "Installed theme" section.
6. Click one of them.
7. ENJOY your new theme!!

Let me know if it worked for you! smile

By the way, the latest versions of Potplayer (both 32bit and 64bit) act as if they have their own home-grown ReClock feature. They seem to now automatically provide the same smoothing function as ReClock.

oh, that is some useful information. Thanks for sharing it with me. Anyway I think I am going to keep using 32-bit for now and wait a little while before I go to 64-bit, but as I see it there is nothing new to upgrading SVP setup to 64-bit, right?
If there are some new things, I would like to know. What is better in 64-bit compared to 32-bit?
