Hi,

I have never seen a problem like this before, it started to appear around a week ago or so, at first I thought this was happening when SVP was running only, but now I see that this is happening even when SVP is not on! Basically when I play a video at Full screen in MPC-HC the video just starts to shake, it only happens when I am in full screen mode, no problem if played in Windowed mode or any other mode!

Running latest MPC-HC, madVR and SVP obviously, but as I said this problem is happening even when SVP is disabled.

Has anyone ever noticed anything like this? It's really a disgusting problem!

Kindly suggest what to do.

Thanks in advance.

Okay, then sticking with 3.1.7, until final 4.0 hits.

May I know why you uninstalled it?

I have been getting the pop up to update to Version 4.0 for almost two weeks now, but never got the impulse to do it. But today I thought about it, but then seen that its not a full version, a Technical Preview or something, and it clearly says that very few 4.0 features are added in the TP version.

So the question is, should I stay with old 3.17 or upgrade to 4.0 TP? I haven't donated anywhere, but would still like to know the amount to get the full 4.0 version, if it is available that is. This page doesn't help me to get any information on the availability or the pricing! https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/real … c#/updates

Thanks in advance.

Hah! Well then do the opposite - try DXVA2 (copy-back); this is normally what SVP is configured to by default anyway.

It works! I changed it back to DXVA2 and the video is playing smoothly!

WOW! I hate this CUDA thing then tongue

One last question, as I understand that this won't work with MPC-HC no matter what I do, is there any other player other than MPC-HC which works good with SVP? It just hurts me to delete 100 gigs of download that's all.

Thanks in advance.

However under External filter tab I only see ffdshow as filter, do I need to add LAV Video decoder here?

No; you can find LAVfilters via MPC-HC in Options -> Internal Filters -> Video Decoders

Okay, thanks.

Just give me the link already!  big_smile

I have sent you an email yesterday, you didn't reply, so I think the message wasn't sent or what?

PS: It's just a TV show man, Sherlock.

So basically no good! I uninstalled SVP once again, and installed it just now, same thing. Someone said to change the LAV filter to CUVID, but I see that its already enabled by default.

I don't understand these things at all!.

I am thinking about deleting this file now, it's no good if SVP doesn't work on this! Can't believe I downloaded these for the span of over a week as these were the best quality out there, but I can't fathom 25 frames, not any more.

So just to clarify, is it safe to assume you're using an AMD CPU with an AMD GPU?

I mentioned my system spec in OP mate. Its a i7 950 CPU and Asus GTX970 GPU, with 8 gigs of RAM. I very much know that this CPU is damn old, but that old that it can't handle SVP and madVR?

PS: Anyway, just installed the latest Nvidia driver, there was an update pop up for pretty long. Don't know whether this will make any change or not, but let's see.

One more thing, I just want to install everything freshly, could someone guide me to install MPC-HC, madVR with SVP?

OK, we're all adults here.

Try to guess the top referring subreddit wink

Because it's a file which I have downloaded from Torrent, it's not something which I have paid for. That's why I am not naming the file, that's a rule right?

I don't understand the last line!

Turn off SVP, press Ctrl+J to see renderer stats. How many frames-per-second it will show?

I have attached the screenshot. What do you see there?

Perhaps it is "Scan type: MBAFF". So 25 fps converted to 50 by decoder. And you have twice more frames in the second at input of SVP, twice more CPU load.
Does that video has 50 different pictures in the second? hmm

Perhaps! I don't know.

I don't understand the last line!

at least post here "last launch log" and screenshot of the "Performance graphs" window

Well it's a TV show, that's all I can say. Let's call it ABC.mkv big_smile

Where to find this last launch log and performance graphs? Not in front of PC at this moment.

Since I have found SVP I have watched at least 50 movies (more actually) or shows and never had a problem with any of them, until now. I downloaded a file, which I can't name obviously, which is so ignorant to run properly with SVP. The problem is the file runs sometimes, and when it runs SVP effects are very minimal, and sometimes SVP would show message that lower your profile, high CPU usage or some sort of thing!

Below is the file's details, do tell me if you see if there is anything wrong with the file,

http://i.imgur.com/zRnVNiX.jpg

The CPU usage is indeed high! But why? With other files the usage is 25-30% max!

http://i.imgur.com/QA8oUIJ.jpg

And here is another file, which runs just fine, just for example,

http://i.imgur.com/ZrEcZ7y.jpg

So what's wrong with the first file, if there is anything at all that is? Why SVP can't run that file properly like other files?

I have uninstalled SVP, installed the updated version of madVR and MPC-HC, then reinstalled SVP, all same sad

Thanks in advance.

PS: Forgot to mention my system specs, it's i7 950 running at stock clock (3.07 GHz), 8 GB memory and GTX970 STRIX.

2m interpolation does make artifacts almost non existent, true, but the purpose of SVP gets kind of killed. I mean there's a HUGE difference between 2m interpolation and the default adaptive mode, once someone sees the default mode it's rather hard to go to anything else smile.

Right now I am more or less happy with 1m interpolation and artifact masking at above normal. Artifacts are there, but in much lesser extent.

PS: This damn monitor doesn't support 72 Hz either, tried that already. I am buying a 120 Hz monitor soon big_smile

(13 replies, posted in Using SVP)

I have GTX580 mate, its Nvidia. I created a custom resolution under Nvidia Control Panel and used 48 Hz but the monitor went black and said current input settings not supported by the monitor, so I am guessing this monitor (U2412M) only supports 60 Hz. I thought going lower frequencies should not have any problem, but I was wrong.

How do you make a 60 Hz monitor run at 48 Hz? And if it doesn't run at 24/48/72 etc. frequencies then it would have artifacts?

Nintendo Maniac 64
Thanks once again mate. Actually yes, I have tried all the options, so yes the 2m (min artifacts) was tried on, but it was up to my taste. I mean it definitely does what it says, the artifacts were indeed minimum, minimal actually, but the whole video looks really choopy, you know jittery, it's like going back to 24 frames, LOL. But thanks for that suggestion that I need to increase other settings along with decreasing the frame interpolation mode, will try them one by one but tomorrow, very tired now.

Got the reset menu settings, so thanks, again smile

PS: I hit on the reset menu and it auto detected my hardware as i7 920/i5 2300 etc, and it's 4g or something, just out of curiosity if I select it at i7 980/i7 2600, profile 5, what would happen?

biff
Thanks biff. I understand that you are asking me to extract the maximum juice from my old system and that is fair too, but I really don't want to do that any more. Cause this whole rig will be sold in less than two months time (except the GPU), and the party is my relative too, who is just a basic user, so I don't really want to OC the CPU and lessen the total life time of the CPU, mine is already four and a half years old, so you know. However my RAM is already OCed and running at 1800 MHz, haven't tried 2000 MHz. It's the entry level Corsair XMS3 kit, don't know whether it will be able to take 2000 MHz or not. However if it can I will simply do that, cause I have seen the performance difference between 1600 and 1800 MHz, not for playing videos and stuffs but for WinRAR extraction process.

ithehappy wrote:

Could you please answer my actual query, I mean where could I find and change the settings in SVP like you told?

Oh, I didn't realize you didn't know where to find this stuff.  First right-click the SVP icon in the task bar, interface type -> Advanced.  From there play the problematic video in question (Skyfall?).  Now right click the SVP icon again, Video profiles, and left click the resolution that is bolded.

ithehappy wrote:

PS: One more question, will there be any problem if I keep GPU Acceleration off (OpenCL)? When I enable it a frame is skipped when a video is finished, I mean at very end!

It only results in worse performance, not an actual reduction in quality.

Okay, I have played with all the settings, and none made any difference, but the option called frames interpolation mode. When I change the default (adaptive) setting to 1.5m (for anime) one, I think the artifacts reduce quite a lot, but it also makes the video less smooth than default (however I am guessing that's normal), making it kind of jittery, so I had to change it back to default, and as I said the other two options don't make any difference (at least not to my eyes), I mean the Decrease grip step and Motion vectors grid, changing these to any value doesn't make any difference at all. But then I was playing with other settings too, and this one, labelled as Artifacts masking does something, I mean when I change it from disabled (which was the default) to Average, I think I see less artifacts, and I don't think it's placebo either, and the most important thing is changing it to average doesn't make the video less smooth, well again at least not to my eyes. So I guess I will keep this option at average for the time being.

Now one thing, is there any option to reset all the settings in SVP? I mean I have played with all the settings, so in case something is messed up I would like to know if there's any option to reset everything. Or can I just select the default option on all settings and that would make everything default?

Thanks.
