Alright, I just updated a bunch of stuff including ffdshow & avisynth using the svp updater and it's working fine now.

This wouldn't happen to be caused by setting your LAVfilters decoder to DXVA2 (native), would it?

(for reference it should be set to "copy-back" for use with SVP)

DXVA2 is on 'copy-back'.

All of this happened after I updated Shark007 Codecs. Had to download official ffdshow because the one with the codec pack didn't appear as 'registered' with mpc-be. And now I have the above 'paused' problem.

are there any issues other than incorrect playback status?

when you open ffdshow properties while playing video - what do you see in the "info" section? the "current frame" value should count

Well this causes SVP not to run essentially, other than no other issue that I can see.

Status is kept to 'paused' when playing video

Yeah, I'm using Windows 10 so stuff has been different. I remember there was a DPI scaler before (can't remember which Windows), now it's "Change size of items", "set custom scaling level" or "Change only the text size"

I was using a 4K monitor as main screen and a 1080p monitor as second screen, then I disconnected the 4K monitor and was using the 1080p screen, this is when I noticed the problem.

I fixed it by going into Control Panel > Display > Change only the text size

Then I randomly chose "Message Boxes" from the drop down, changed the value from 9 to 6, this fixed the issue, then I reverted to 9 again and it didn't change anything, it was still fixed. Very strange.

What do I do if font is too big:

This happened when I switched from my 4K display to 1080p, now as you can see, certain text is too big.

Thanks Chainik, I can confirm that it appears to have been fixed after updating to the latest version.

If I don't run MPC-BE as admin, SVP doesn't work with it.

Chainik wrote:

yep, both SVP Manager and video player should be running with the same rights (either admin or non-admin)

Lol I gave thanks too early. I checked and MPC-HC was indeed running as admin already, MPC-BE too. And they both worked fine with SVP 3.1.7 anyway, which was also running as admin.

(13 replies, posted in Using SVP)

I found out the issue. Apparently if I open MPC-HC while SVP is running as administrator, it doesn't function correctly and SVP keeps using 30%+ of CPU even after I close the video, but it works perfectly for MPC-BE. I run it as admin for MPC-BE to work, if I run it normally it stops working for MPC-BE and works for MPC-HC. Both of them are running in 32 bit. I guess I will turn off SVP when using MPC-HC and keep it on for BE, unless there is a way to fix this.

Yes, I am using a GTX 970 running Windows 10.

Ok, the next time it happens I will post the event log.

Hi, SVP uses 30%+ of my CPU sitting in idle after I'm done watching a movie. Each time this happens (and it happens every time), SVP doesn't work when I open another video, and I can't exit from the taskbar icon; I'm forced to end task and restart it for it to work again. Is there a way to fix this?

I don't think there's MORE artifacts, just that I can see them more clearly at 120hz. 60hz blurs them a bit.

OP, I have the same specs as you besides the cpu. I have a i3-3320 currently. But I do have a 120hz monitor and your CPU will be the bottleneck before the GPU. At 1080P 120hz the 660gtx only gets used to 50% max but my i3 gets bottlenecked unless  I switch to 60hz. So I'm going to buy an i5 this month or the next with a new motherboard since i5 last years compared to i3's. No issues with my i3 running 120hz at anything below 1080p though (including 1980x800 aka 1080p with the black bars). Having 4 cores, even if it's one of the less powered versions,  I don't think you will see any problems running 120 at 1080p.

And about artifacts at 120 , I notice artifacts A LOT more at 120 than 60. In fact, I'm so used to 120, I can barely notice the artifacts at 60 besides the most obvious cases like someone walking in front of background made of trees for example. But the great thing about 120 is you don't even care about the artifacts once you get used to the highly improved smoothness compared to 60hz.

Maybe artifacts will be solved some day soon, I hope.
