I dont necessarily talk about a guide for SVP setup, probably it was something else. The only thing comes into my mind is when I was trying to achieve to offload video decoding job from CPU to GPU. Anyway, more or less, this is offtopic.
I removed ffdshow and added instead avisynth there as per the guide you linked and since then there is no memory usage increase, this was the first happyness.
But additionally, seeking in the video became quicker now, so thats happiness#2
Thanks for the support!
I found that in potplayer/filter control/Filter priority (overall)/ I have "ffdshow raw video filter" and its priority set to "prefer". I also see ffdshow icon on taskbar at bottom tight corner, so it seems I do use ffdshow.
I dont remember why I did that there, I set things up very long time ago. I was following a guide for sure, as I dont just set things like this on my own for fun
I tried now without frame rate conversion, (I pressed the button in SVP "do frame rate conversion" ) and memory usage was still climbing up.
Then I exited SVP completely (right click on its icon and exit), then memory usage was constant, even when I was jumping back and forth in the video.
I havent tried disablig ffdshow yet, first I would like to hear your instructions, as I really dont want to mess this up :S
Hey,
Im experiencing a memory leak.
Memory usage is constantly increasing if Im fastjumping forward or backwards in the video (arrow left and right). Its the same if Im doing more discrete jump by clicking somewhere on the progress bar. So each jump allocates like 700MB RAM, which then doesnt decrease, it just keeps increasing until I run out of RAM. Memory usage doesnt decrease even if I stop jumping in the video. It stays until I close the videoplayer. Problem is there with all video files, but below I put the info of an example video.
If video just plays, meaning, Im not doing jumps, then memory usage is constant.
HWSW info:
Im using potlayer, 9950x3D (also with 12900k), 64GB RAM, 3080TI, win11, latest drivers.
Expected behavior would be that in some way, memory usage should decrease.
Any workaround for this?
example video details:

Thanks
Now Im totally confused about what settings I had before and how it went wrong if I had not touched the settings
Anyway, now its ok, thanks once again. Back to watching the movie in fullscreen again.
Hmm, I feel stupid now that I havent tried this. This solved the problem, thanks for the really fast feedback.
Its funny, because I can turn it ON again and now its also fine, so right now I cant even reproduce this issue.
It would be interesting to know what caused this and why the issue disappeared after turning the feature OFF, (then back ON.)
Hey,
Im a long time SVP user and its working fine with pot player.
I recently updated SVP but Im not sure if this is what started the following problem. I also had win10 update, not even god knows what that did.
Problem description:
If I start a video and switch it to fullscreen, then after a few seconds the video gets black bars around the video from all sides so left, right, top bottom, which then gets outer lighting, but that doesnt matter I guess. A week ago this was not happening.
If I start a video in window, or Im switching back to windowed mode, then the black border disapperas, so in window mode its working as expected.
If I switch to fullscreen mode, then its scaling perfectly for a few seconds, so video is really fullscreen, but then the video gets the black border and thats the moment when the "SVP:playing at 143.856 / Automatic" text appears in bottom left corner. I attached 2 screenshots about fullscreen and windowed mode.
I tried to look around in settings, but all seems fine: Under video settings it is: keep aspect ratio and keep normal size. To be honest I didnt touch the settings before the problem started. Im sure its not the video file either because videos that were previously fine are also gets resized now. I also checked the SVP log, but I cant see anything bad. I have 3 monitors, and behavior is the same on all of them.
Does anybody have any idea?
Thanks in advance
aaaaand.. when does the black friday promotion end?
Hey,
I bought SVP pro a week ago and Im already using it on 2 PCs. Im thinking about using SVP on a 3rd (and meybe on a 4th) PC as well.
Recently because of the black friday promotion Im wondering if I can buy a full 2nd SVP pro. (instead of going for the plus license which is 10$ per PCs.)
Can I buy a 2nd one? So under same mail address with same credit card?
Bonus question:
A friend asked me if I can buy an SVP for him. So can I buy a 3rd SVP to my friend with my credit card by giving HIS mail address? Altogether this would mean 3 SVP pro, where all the 3 would be bought with 1 credit card and 2 SVP is under my mail address and 1 would be under friend's mail address.
Thanks
Ah! You're probably running VLC as admin. Don't do this!
Ok, so this is driving me crazy.... but it seems I figured out what is happening:
Running the vlc exe (2.2.8 x64) from totalcmd, drag and drop mkv file -> not working
Running the mpc exe (1.7.16 x86) from totalcmd, drag and drop mkv file -> not working
Running same vlc from windows file manager -> WORKING
Running same mpc from windows file manager -> WORKING
I spent some time thinking about wtf is going on. This was the point where I checked again what you wrote and then it hit me: It seems, the problem was caused by using totalcmd in admin mode. And runing mpc/vlc from admin-mode-totalcmd will make SVP fail. I didnt know this correlation.
Thanks for the tip. I spent HOURS configuring, installing, uninstaling, installing, uninstalling, configuring, forum reading, uninstalling, guide reading, installing.........
Now its time to start testing, playing.
What VLC version shall I use? x86? x64? v2.x? v3.x?
Hey,
After testing the free version of SVP for a couple of days with the only supported MPC-HC player, I decided to buy SVP, because I want to use it with VLC, Kodi and also with Plex. Both the free and the paid version is working fine with MPC-HC. 24p is converted to 60p, video is fluent.
I had a hard time making it work but I managed to do it.
Problem is, I cant make it work with VLC (v2.2.8 x64). I followed the installation guide on the webpage and I did all the steps. I set the variables, folder permissions, the VLC settings, I can see the Vapoursynth at video/filters etc but still no luck.
Here is the event log:

So SVP recognized VLC, It thinks, its doing the frame interpolation (hovering tooltip on SVP icon says playing at 59,9405 FPS [x[5/2]) but the movie is choppy, laggy like a 24p movie. On the performance monitor in SVP it doesnt show anything on the first graph called SVP index, while it did with mpc-hc. I suspect, problem is either with the environment variables or with the folder permission but I did both as per the guide. even "vspipe" works in the cmd window:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Oracle\Java\javapath;C:\ProgramData\Oracle\Java\javapath;C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\iCLS Client\;C:\Program Files\Intel\iCLS Client\;C:\WINDOWS\system32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\System32\Wbem;C:\WINDOWS\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\;C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\PhysX\Common;C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\Intel(R) Management Engine Components\DAL;C:\Program Files\Intel\Intel(R) Management Engine Components\DAL;C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\Intel(R) Management Engine Components\IPT;C:\Program Files\Intel\Intel(R) Management Engine Components\IPT;C:\WINDOWS\system32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\System32\Wbem;C:\WINDOWS\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\;C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Live\Shared;C:\WINDOWS\System32\OpenSSH\;C:\Program Files (x86)\SVP 4\mpv64
I even tried this, as mentioned in the guide:
In some rare cases the PYTHONPATH environment variable is not enough for some reason and you'll get VapourSynth engine error - possibly corrupted installation error in the VLC's messages log. This can be fixed by copying all the files from SVP 4/mpv64 into VLC's folder.
These are the selected components: https://imgur.com/a/AmBLzII
Can somebody help ? Thanks in advance
