It is because of latest NVIDIA video drivers.
Windows 10 - video player hangs and/or crashes

It's actually the other way around. I had just installed Driver 359.00 and it all works now smile

Hi, did you tried play that x265 with nvidia cuda and without svp ? because nvidia cuda dont work well in win 10 with potplayer, same with mpc-hc even if you use lav video decoder followed ncuvid enabled. Here only work with x264 without madvr image doubling and svp. Better use dxva2 as recommended in the guide. Nvidia Cuda work without any problem in Win 8.1 with any combo: potplayer + svp, potplayer + madvr, potplayer + madvr + svp, potplayer + madvr (image doubling) + svp. Same with mpc-hc + etc etc.
Thank you for use the guide.

I did. It just crashed. From the looks of it, the issue occurs on my GPU Driver side for all ran smoothly after updating it.

I would like to MAG79 and Maken1 for the quick responses and for this guide. Thank you guys. You're all awesome! smile

Error in the Hardware CUDA CUVID decoder. Try to use another decoder for HEVC x265

Alright. I did what you said and it worked. I changed the video decoder back to its default [FFmpeg Decoder].

Now I just have one last question.
Why is that Nvidia CUDA doesn't work on my machine? I currently have a GTX 970. Does it have anything to do with its Drivers?

Good day, Maken!

Thank you for providing us with this awesome guide.

Just wanted to ask a question regarding your new guide. You see, I've been having trouble running HEVC x265 files using your new guide. Whenever I try to play HEVC x265 files, the player just crashes. (see pic below:

I was able to run them last time using your older guide.
What seems to be the problem here and how could I solve it?

Hoping for your advice. TIA
