There are some scores in the SVPMark database, but here's a 6600k @4.65ghz:

A 6700k at 5.0:

And a 4790k @ 4.7GHz gets ~3100.

Even without hyperthreading, the 6600k has a slight edge... But just barely. Both should OC similarly, but I'd go with with the 6600k if I were you just to get better per-thread performance and the better Z170 platform.

Obviously the 6700k is the chip you want if you can afford it. That score beats some of Intel's newer HEDT chips.

Ok so i just realized that the I7 6700(non-k) is in my price range but I can't overclock it.....so once again, should I stick with the I5 or go with the I7 in this case? Thanks a lot for any reply in advance.

Hi,

I went from a 3570K @ 4.2Ghz to a 4790K @ 4.7Ghz and it made a difference. A big difference. Probably not much at all if you're running the default settings though.

But it allowed me to fine tune my settings for SVP better (settings which are now probably only in the purchased version of SVP 4, which I'm waiting for eagerly).

Anyway, the first question really is... what do you use your system for? What are your other specs?

Thanks for the all the replies guys,i'll be going with the 6600k as per the scores and your recommendations.
As for my build here you go(will get a gpu after my big exams next year) : http://pcpartpicker.com/p/LHNfWZ
I'll be using for gaming as well, nothing else cpu intensive aside from svp.

Well as the topic says, would the hyper threading of the I7 help alot? Or should I just stick with the I5?

I see, majority of the anime i have is in 720p(long story short, most anime aren't produced at 1080p, guess I'll just watch the ones in 1080p first, well thanks for reply, this thread more or less cleared up most(if not all) of my questions regarding madvr and the cpus(........for now......)

Madvr is definitely worth it.

I have a 4790K running @ 4.7Ghz & an AMD HD 7970 (same as the R9 280x).

The CPU is more than enough even @ 4.0Ghz to run SVP @ 60FPS... But the HD4600 is not enough for Madvr in my opinion.

I use the HD4600 for GPU Acceleration with SVP... and I use the HD7970 for my Madvr Settings.

Madvr for me is massive... It's as significant as SVP, if not more.

Both go hand in hand for me. Both are a must. If not Madvr+MPC, than MPDN (as the alternative).

I might be wrong though, you might be able to use Madvr with the HD4600 (for some basic settings), but with the settings I use, I know the HD4600 is not enough.

I too am curious about the settings you use,do post them whenever you get the chance.

I see,I will be using a 1080p monitor,23 inch ips,1000:1 static contrast ratio, not a tv lol but thanks alot, you confirmed my decision on getting the 4690k(and basically cleared up what the actual useful function of madvr is) so now I know I won't really be missing much for the 9 months or so without a dedicated gpu(intend to get 390)

Well that depends on your display.  If you're connecting to a TV that has a quality upscaler (which should be most TVs), then I don't see much point in doing the upscaling on your PC.

The only exception would be if you watch a lot of standard definition content, because TVs typically only accept 640x480, 720x480, and 800x600 for SD input resolutions.

So aside from upscaling(as I would mainly be watching 1080p/720p anime) I would be fine without madvr?

Are the Skylake i5's non-K versions?

Regarding GPU, even low-end Haswell's iGPU (such as what is on the Pentium G3258) is adequate for SVP, so really it all comes down to CPU performance.  Just remember, Skylake is a bit faster per-GHz than Haswell.

Yes the skylake I5s are the non k versions, the k is out of my budget since it requires a cpu cooler which i won'tbe able to get for a few months and a Z170 chipset instead which is much more expensive than a h170.
The Haswell is overclockable tho.You said cpu performance is the main factor so the i5 4690k seems like the better choice as I can overclock it(i'll prob go around to 4.5 Ghz with a 212 evo). last time i posted here regarding the igpu, chanik( i think it was) said that the HD 4600 is enough( as you have said) but for use without madvr, so i guess the deciding factor here is, would the HD 530 be enough to use madvr to some extent(or is madvr not all that?Cause I've never got to use it on my crappy low end system)

Does anyone have an idea if the performance difference between them is worth the $25 price difference? How is the HD Graphics 530 with svp(would I be able to use madvr to some extent?)
Just a quick rundown if you don't know difference between them:The I5 6500 has base clock of 3.2 and a maximum turbo clock of 3.6. The I5 6600 has base clock of 3.3 and a maximum turbo clock of 3.9.

Or should I just suck it up and go with an I5 4690k?Does overclocking really help with Svp?Or would the stock clocks be enough?(I only intend to use svp for 60@1080p).
Skylake has a better Igpu which I will be using for about a 9 months or so before I get a dedicated gpu so I need to know how much that would affect svp performance as the HD 530 is a substantial increase over the HD 4600.

Any replies would be appreciated.

Hmm,they are both the same price lol but the 280x one has 1 gb less of vram than the 380 I chose...but the 280x has more raw power(was mainly getting the extra Vram for future proofing and skyrim modding since from what I've read seems to use alot of Vram and will CTD if there isn't enough).

Yeah but from what I read the 200 series doesn't fully support DX12 while the 300 series does, but I know the 280x is more powerful..I'm not sure which one to go with tho, which one do you think I should go with?

I  actually changed it to a 380 4GB in hopes that Dx12 gives a boost in performance in games,as for getting a 6600k that would require getting a new motherboard and the ones I've seen only seem to be more than the one I picked out but as you said the I5 4590 should be fine.

I'm afraid that isn't in my price range lol.

Intel HD graphics 4600 would that be enough for 60fps@1080p playback?

yes, but w/o madVR

Ok thanks alot for the reply, looks like I will be going for the 4590 instead, thanks alot once again for the replies  smile

Ok thanks alot for the reply,I revised the name of the thread as you said I should have done, now for a quick question:the Igpu(ntel HD graphics 4600) would that be enough for 60fps@1080p playback?(I am assuming it will be since you suggested using the igpu for svp, most likely gonna be using the settings recommend on the svp website for anime) If so I'll get that instead and try doing what you said with the discrete GPU and Madvr.

So I'm building my first pc ever and I wanted to know if I take the I5 over the Xeon E3 1231V3(which is basically a I7 4770 without the igpu),would I be missing out on any performance gains?I know the Xeon() has multithreading so that would be 8 threads in total(4 cores) and I see that svp always likes more cores/threads so I was wondering.I know overall that the Xeon is more powerful but I don't want to spend an extra $50 on something I don't need.I'm also building this pc for gaming but that's besides the point. Here's a link to the build I'm planning to build (the xeon is subject to change depending on what responses I get here lol) : http://pcpartpicker.com/p/hmrbgs
Thanks in advance for any replies.
