Not sure which one to get. I currently have an FX-8350 from an old gaming pc turned media server. It can brute force it’s way through HEVC encoding and SVP but temps skyrocket when doing both. H264 files are a breeze but I’m currently reencoding my entire library to H265 to prolong the need to add more storage. I’ve got my eyes on a 1050ti but was wondering if the investment would be worth it. I’m aware that SVP mostly uses the cpu for frame interpolation but if I can offload all of the decoding to a dGPU, overall performance should increase, right?

I fixed it. Instead of copying and pasting other people's settings I just created my own.

I have the proper config files and filters installed, but when I play a video in XBMC, SVP doesnt pick up on DirectShow.

I will also attach my config files.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Here you go. FFmpeg produced a runtime error (1073741819), and mencoder got choppy after 10s

Hi guys, yeah like Chainik said, when using UMS it also has to do encoding which means it's slower than just using SVP.
Using AviSynth/FFmpeg should be faster than AviSynth/MEncoder, so if we can solve that runtime error it will be good. I'll try to help you solve that. Do you have the exact error?

I've uninstalled everything. Im going to reinstall everything and give it another run.

All I can say is last two times I was trying to stream something smooth with UMS - I've failed  big_smile
The 1st run was like 2 yo ago and the 2nd one about 1 yo ago.

Yeah I'm close to calling it quits, myself. So many incomplete answers on the forums that it isnt even worth the headache.

BTW, SubJunk is the UMS author wink

I know. Awesome guy. I've written my issues and posted UMS error logs on the website, but they seem pretty busy/ shorthanded over there.

Nothing is clear.
1. Playback with SVP works to you?
2. Stream over UMS works withot SVP and with "smooth motion" disabled?
3. Any 60 fps movie can stream over UMS withot SVP and with "smooth motion" disabled?

1. Playback is butter smooth when viewing with PotPlayer
2. Normal streaming with MEncoder works just fine
3. I've tried both Avisynth/ FFMPeg and Avisynth/ MEncoder. Avi/FFMPeg produces a Java run time error and wont play videos at all. Avi/ ME will stream the video but its gets really choppy after about 10s.
-base 60 fps vids are fine but encoding a library of nearly 1000 videos will take forever lol.
-Multithreading, True Motion via Interframe, and GPU acceleration are the only three things checked.
-Checking Avi VFR to CFR doesnt seem to do anything but add more load to the CPU
-I've noticed that my GPU usage drops to 0% a lot of times. This only happens when trying to stream to another device.

I was tinkering more today. Uninstalled and reinstalled FFDShow, Haali media splitter, and SVP. Also, did a clean install of UMS. Avisynth/ FFMPEG gets a runtime error and Avisynth/ MEncoder plays the video for about 10 seconds before getting choppy and unwatchable.

FX 8350 (8 cores at 4GHz)
R9 270X
8GB DDR3 1600

All default settings. I dont know what to change.

SVP, ffdshow, and haali media splitter are all going whenever I start playback on another device. It puts a nice load (60-70% per core and around 40 degrees) on all 8 cores but GPU usage skips between 0% and 15%+ no matter which system I use it. I think GPU acceleration MAY be the problem, but using the CPU alone puts out too much heat and I havent gotten a water cooler just yet. I've read forums where people are doing this with no issue with quad cores and weak GPUs, but my 8 core and 3rd tier GPU is suffering. I wish someone had a video or something to follow. Forum answers are never complete over there.

Whichever one works best. Im afraid I may be doing both which is causing the stuttering. Im not sure what options to tick in UMS for Avisynth/ ffmpeg-mencoder so I just checked everything.

First off, let me start by saying THIS IS AMAZING. I'm using it with Potplayer and geez. You guys are awesome.

The issue: I have an HTPC with an FX4300 and Radeon 7750 1gb. Whenever I try to stream over UMS to my WDTV Live, the video stutters like crazy. I know the WDTV Live doesnt handle 60fps in all formats so all of the encoding is done in UMS before it's sent to the box. No dice. I figured it may be because I was using wireless and a not-so-great system for encoding/ transcoding...So I installed SVP and UMS with the required filters on my gaming PC and Im having the exact same issues with a FX8350 and a Sapphire Vapor-X r270x 2GB. Videos are smooth as butter when played locally, but as soon as I send them over UMS things go to poop. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
