false positive?

Probably. You guys should know better big_smile

C:\Program Files (x86)\SVP 4\MediaInfo.dll:
Win.Adware.Browsefox-12535 FOUND

What is that all about?

ok, here is what I found.

The freeze and driver crash only happens when the following combination is being used:
- 353.06 or 353.12 nvidia driver + SVP + MPC HC with LAV Filters + movie was encoded with mkvmerge v7.9.0 = picture freeze and driver crash.

Take one of those out and everything is fine.

For example: use KMPlayer with internal filters = no problem
play a movie that was encoded with earlier version of mkvmerge = no problem

Yes OpenCL enabled. Ffdshow rev4533 sep 24 2014 x86. AVIsynth 2.5.8. All working fine. Also tried MPC-HC lastest version and working fine too. My windows is 8.1 pro x64. Try to reset SVP profiles. Also try using PotPlayer, follow my guide at least to the basic steps see if happen the same. Good Luck

Thanks. I will try. But it's strange that with older drivers this same setup wasn't a problem.

Hi, im using 353.06 on evga gtx 570 sc and everything working just fine with potplayer, etc.
whats your video card ?.   Try uninstall drivers using this http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/dis … nload.html , follow it instructions, install drivers again.

The card is GTX970.
Do you have OpenCL enabled in the SVP settings to use the GPU? Or maybe Potplayer is doing something differently?
Also can you tell me what version of FFDShow and AVIsynth are you using?

I did clean with DDU before. That didn't help. But as soon as I go back to pre 353.06 driver everything works fine.

Beta versions are closed. For Beta testers only. Soon will be public release of new SVP version.
About current public version. SVP 3.1.6 compatible to x86 players only. Use MPC-HC x86 version.

Oh, that's good news.
Currently SVP does not work with latest nvidia drivers 353.06 and 353.12. I made a post about it here http://www.svp-team.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=2552

How does one join the SVP beta?  smile  Because I'm a sad panda right now. Games run better with latest nvidia drivers but SVP is just freezing with them.  sad

SVP does not work with latest nvidia drivers 353.06 and 353.12.
When you switch to full screen and back a couple of times the picture freezes, driver crashes and GPU clock get's stuck at 540Mhz until you restart or go in to device manager and disable/enable the driver.  sad

ok I see it now. Looks like it's case sensitive to the extreme.

So I had to add a couple of tags.
This works great now:

;===Stereo 3D===
;Character ? in HOU and HSBS StereoTags
StereoTag_?=.;-; ;;

;Half OverUnder
StereoTag_HOU=h?OU;H?OU;half?OU;Half?OU;Half?Over?Under;half?ou;HALF?OU

;Half SideBySide
StereoTag_HSBS=h?sbs;h?SBS;H?SBS;half?SBS;Half?SBS;Half?Side?By?Side;half?sbs;HALF?SBS

  big_smile  You should add those in next version to.
All lower case and all upper case letters.

Oh. Sorry.
I found that SVP 3.1.5 have missed part of hidden settings. You can add it yourself.
1. SVP menu - Information - hidden settings
2. Add text lines:

;===Stereo 3D===
;Character ? in HOU and HSBS StereoTags
StereoTag_?=.;-; ;;

;Half OverUnder
StereoTag_HOU=h?OU;H?OU;half?OU;Half?OU;Half?Over?Under

;Half SideBySide
StereoTag_HSBS=h?sbs;h?SBS;H?SBS;half?SBS;Half?SBS;Half?Side?By?Side

3. Close and save.

It must works.

I made mistake when we did SVP 3.1.5 pack and this part of hidden settings was missed.
Thank you for bug report. We will return this part in next version SVP.

ok, I added this text to hidden settings in SVP. opened a file with "half-sbs" in the name.
Nothing happened. It still stays in 2D mode. What could be wrong?

Thanks! I will try this as soon as I get home. ^_^
I had a feeling something was off.

If I had to guess (at least how I'd do it) it looks at aspect ratio of the image.  So if you've got a double wide picture, it assumes 3D SBS video.  Unforunatly, this method won't work for Half-SBS images, as they are still 'normal' aspect.  For those, about the only thing they could do is try to detect the division line between frames, but that could not be done until after decoding, and could not be done all that reliable either.

But MAG79 said it's already done automatically, I guess it's done the most simple way like I mentioned earlier? It just looks for a tag in the filename?
Guys, am I the only one watching 3D movies with SVP? Noone noticed that it's not switching to 3D? Or do you all just set it up manually every time or just leave it set to 2D? Or is it just me and it's working for everyone else?

I know, to many questions. But I just don't understand how this switch is done and can't get it to work.  sad

MAG79, please do tell how it actually works.
Tried a bunch of 3D files I have and seems that none of them are switching to 3D mode. So I have to remember do this manually every time.  sad

Actually, I just tried it.
Doesn't look like it works for me. I opened a file tagged "Half-SBS" and SVP is still saying it's in 2D mode.
Tried also adding HSBS to the file. Still nothing.
What am I missing?

Maybe this 2D to 3D switch can be made automatically?
It is already done. Just check it on your 3D SBS, hSBS, OU and hOU videofiles. wink

Oh. That's awesome.  neutral

in 2D mode you'll get more artifacts (or at least blur) on the screen edges

in 3D mode SVP splits source video frame by two, processes both parts independently and joins them back
in 2D mode it tries to find motion in the whole "frame" which is not a very good idea

I understand now. Thanks.
Maybe this 2D to 3D switch can be made automatically? Like I mentioned above or in some other way?
I know there is key shortcut I can do this but most will never remember to do this every time they watch a 3D movie.

I was wondering, those 3D options in SVP what are they actually doing differently then 2D mode.
I was always watching 3D movies with SVP set to 2D mode and it looked fine to me.
Am I missing something? If setting SVP to 3D mode that matches the 3D content I'm watching improves the quality, can this process be made automatically?
For example if there is "3D" & "HSBS" in the filename SVP would switch to a matching 3D mode automatically. If no tags found in the file it switched back to 2D mode.
Or is there another way to do this that I don't know about.

Thank you.
Yes. It is already fixed.
Bug/Quirk: Tons of File Operations when no video is playing at all
That modification is included in SVP 3.1.5rc

I see I was not the only one.
Thanks.  smile  The RC rocks. Very good work.

Just tested svp 3.1.5rc and it doesn't have this problem.
On idle there is no I/O at all.  smile

Was it some kind of leak in the previous version?

It's almost as busy the Antimalware service. Never stops reading and growing at a rate of about 10kb every second.
Is this how it's looking for FFDShow? That's just insane usage.

More info. With the latest nightly builds the GPU is at 96-100% load.
Installing the older version drops the usage to 40-45%

The same in both cases?

Yes, both cases are 23.976*(5:2)=59.94
Happens with all latest nightly builds from here: http://roy.orz.hm/lavf-w32-nightlies/
Or the latest installer here: http://xhmikosr.1f0.de/lavfilters/

If you install the latest release version here http://1f0.de/downloads/
The stuttering stops.

MAG79 wrote:

smooth formula is usual: 23.976*(5:2)=59.94
the resulting frequency in this case is 59.94 fps

Yea, It reports the smooth formula.

I had horrible stuttering and upon updating to the latest nVIDIA driver 296.10 it all got fixed

ensure that you are running the latest nVIDIA driverrs

That would probably kill my system. I'm on Radeon HD5770.
Anyway, it's an LAV filters bug.
