Topic: Windows Script Host error in SVPMgr.wsf (missing file ffdshow.avs)

How can I fix this error, when I reproduce I basically get this 2 errors:

Is it original Windows 7 (BTW what edition?) or some kind of "tuned" version?
Do you have any anti-virus software runinng?

Try to run "cscript SVPMgr.wsf" from cmd window - what it'll say?

I have the enterprise edition
The anti-virus is running but it checked the logs and it didn't block anything.

Please attach "SVPMgr.wsf" here, may be it's corrupted for some reason  hmm

This error means that Windows Scripting Host doesn't know what "javascript" means. I've got no idea why it may happens with Windows 7 except the script file is corrupted.

I have also used the file included in the 3.1.2 version and I had the same problem.

I have checked the folder
C:\Users\XXXX\AppData\Roaming\SVP 3.1\AVS\ffdshow.avs"
and inside SVP 3.1\ there is nothing, it's empty

What you see if run cmd.exe and type: cscript <Enter>?
I need info about version of Windows Script Host and hint lines about parameters below.

I think version information may be useful to resolve this problem.

My best guess this's either anti-virus OR some group policy issue (enterprise edition means it's your work system, right?)
Found a link about not working WSH:

There seem to be some security and virus applications that disable Windows Script Host (WSH), or a portion of WSH. It is also possible that a particular IT department may disable WSH on purpose This is of particular relevance to people seeing the errors above for JScript and VBScript.

Confirm that the following file exists: c:\windows\system32\jscript.dll
- If the file does not exist you should attempt to repair Windows or download and install a fresh copy of WSH. See links below. Also note that your "Windows" folder may not be named c:\windows
- If the file exists, register it (you may need your IT people to do this) using the Windows command regsvr32 jscript.dll

Also try to completely turn off anti-virus.

Probably is not a bug, I think now that probably is some restriction that I have in my laptop that I use it to work.

whenever i start up a video in mpc-hc i get the "ffdshow.avs is missing" error, that i then work around by manualy executing the file "SVPMgr.wsf". A new ffdshow.avs is created. Which i can make SVP-Manager make use of by simply rewinding the video now, which is still playing the movie with the osd error message on top. Right after the rewind the SVP-Manager seems to do what it normally would do i presume and everything is working flawlessly as far as i can tell. The video is now subjectively playing silky smooth/faster and the osd error message is gone.
I will have to do this work around every time i open a new video in mpc-hc, because the "ffdshow.avs" from the previous session disappears.


Also, i had the "Windows Scripting Host" and "Active X" disabled through a program called "xp-AntiSpy". I had to reenable both again to be able to make use
of "SVPMgr.wsf" at all.

when you manually execute script I believe it's opened with Wscript.exe
while SVP Manager uses Cscript.exe
check if the program exists and can be run by non-privileged user
