Update of yt-dlp

When will the update for yt-dlp to the current version 2026.03.03 finally be released? The version available with SVP 4 Pro is still the penultimate version, 2026.02.04. However, I've been experiencing massive problems with this version for about three weeks now. I can no longer watch 4K HTTP streams with the mpv player because the stream stutters immediately after starting. M3U8 streams are also no longer being offered.

Hi, I just downloaded the evaluation copy and followed the instructions to get everything working with MPC-HC (64-bit) and it's working great!
However, I noticed SVP doesn't seem to work on shorter video clips. The shortest video clip I've gotten it to work on is about 16 seconds.
In the lower left corner of the UI, it never changes from 'No active playback' unless I run a longer video.
I know it probably sounds ridiculous wanted that superfluid frame rate on such short clips, but trust me I have my reasons lol

So is there a setting I haven't discovered on my own yet? Or is this a hardcoded limitation? Thanks for any answer!

Incorrect source fps on changing file in bundled mpv

When playing multiple files, after changing active video file (selecting next in playlist, drag&drop other file, etc) svp thinks source framerate is twice from real, so it can lead to a few issues like:
• selecting incorrect profile if source fps is used as filter
• interpolating to half of target result framerate if using "to screen" target (72 fps on 144 hz etc)
• showing weird result if using fixed multiplier (24 on 4x says 192 fps instead of 96)

Considerations:
1. latest component updates installed
2. using bundled mpv (C:\Program Files (x86)\SVP 4\mpv64\mpv.exe)
3. %appdata%\mpv is empty (no mpv config overrides)
4. used many unrelated video source files (anime from different forums/trackers, movies, streamed content over yt-dlp, all in different resolutions etc) for over a few months and all recent SVP updates with a hope for a fix, but still...

Recording of the issue:
https://technost.one/wp-content/uploads … 4c1e0b.mp4 (forum fails to upload this 20 MB file so uploaded to my server)

In the log this part caught attention so perhaps MediaInfo component has some bug or something. (afaik it's used in MPC-HC, but it shows 23.976 on files in properties):
00:10:45.664 I: Media: assuming 47.952 fps instead of 23.976 fps
00:10:45.664 W: Media: frame rate info can be incorrect - 23.976 fps via video player vs. 47.952 fps via MediaInfo
00:10:45.664 I: Media: scan type is interlaced

yt-dlp download failure (HTTP 403) with SVP 4 internal Tube.

Hello,

I encountered an issue when trying to play or download a YouTube video using SVP 4’s Tube integration. According to the SVP logs, yt-dlp is initialized correctly and the player connects, but playback ultimately fails because the video data cannot be downloaded.

Below is an excerpt from the SVP log showing the normal initialization and player connection:
Tube: yt_dlp ready
Performance: quick estimation = 965 (previous value was 967)
Screens: updating information, 2 screen(s) found
Screens: screen 1 (Built-in Retina Display) - 3024x1964 @120.000 Hz, x2.0 [255 DPI]
Screens: screen 2 (S22E450) - 1920x1080 @60.000 Hz, x1.0 [102 DPI]
Screens: primary screen is 1
Tube: video format id 247 selected
VideoPlayer: mpv [mpv, native] connected, waiting for the video info...

When executing yt-dlp manually, the download fails with the following message, including a warning about SABR streaming and eventually an HTTP 403 error:

WARNING: Some web client https formats have been skipped...
YouTube is forcing SABR streaming for this client
...
ERROR: unable to download video data: HTTP Error 403: Forbidden

However, after updating yt-dlp to the latest version, the same video downloads correctly without any issue. Therefore, the problem appears to be related to the yt-dlp version bundled or used internally by SVP 4, which seems to be outdated and incompatible with recent YouTube streaming changes.

It would be helpful if SVP could update the bundled yt-dlp version or provide an easier way for users to replace it with a newer version. Please let me know if additional logs or system information are needed.

Thank you.

I just ordered an RTX 5080 for use in gaming & upscaling movies to my 4K TV. I was going to sell my RTX 3080ti and buy a RTX 4060ti for a dual GPU setup with lossless scaling for gaming (as the 3080ti was overkill) and I'm now wondering if I should keep the 3080ti and use that for SVP 4. Does anyone know if I would see a noticable improvement compared to the 4060ti? or would it also be overkill. I could sell it and buy a 4060ti and profit etc... but i like muh smooth movies.

Secondly, I am curious if anyone uses lossless scaling for interpolation? perhaps it could be combined with SVP? idk...

*I've just learned about Nvidia smooth motion. I'm curious if that would be advantageous to deploy alongside SVP.

Thanks very much

Lessons learned - RIFE is dead?

1. Integer interpolation multipliers seem to work best which might be why 60fps isn't quite as smooth as it could be.
2. Most SVP defaults work best and "overrides" should be used sparingly. Otherwise you end up trying to fix problems that you caused.
3. Consistent frame pacing means less stutters. 1% lows are more consistent with "-copy".
4. Recent mpv versions will fallback to "copy" if needed which might be adding to frame pacing inconsistencies.
5. The most consistent frame-pacing on Windows mpv is with hw d3d11/d3d12.
6. If you have smooth motion with occasional micro-stutters then "Blend Frames" can help smooth them out.
7. With the above, there should be no longer be a need to increase default scene.blocks.limit for the Hugo intro.

I've said all this before, but 99% of the nasty RIFE artifacts are gone. Leaving only the occasional fast motion artifact which can be removed, but at the cost of slow pan smoothness. So unlike with RIFE, there is a choice because there are almost all artifacts can be removed. But the trick is to find the balance between zero artifacts and ultimate smoothness.

Bottom line is that if you have a good GPU and a 120Hz display then RIFE is dead.
